Beautiful little European hotel

My wife and I have stayed at 15-20 hotels in Chicago including the large, grand ones. We keep going back to the Talbott. It is a wonderfully clean, friendly, inviting hotel. We were just there in late November and it was beautifully decorated for the holiday season. The rooms are a very nice size. We especially like the central location to the Rush Street hot spots and Michigan Avenue. We have stayed there about five times and always check there first when planning a trip to Chicago.

Best Location

Great hotel just steps away from the best parts of Chicago (Rush Street, Michigan Ave, Miracle Mile, etc). Everyone from doormen, bellmen, housekeeping and front desk staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The room was perfect, much bigger than most boutique hotels with a super comfortable bed and spacious bathroom.....loved the nightly turn-down service with delicious squares of chocolate too!. This was a very last minute find but I will most definitely be back!

My review of The Talbott Hotel

We were visiting our daughter and her family in Iowa where we celebrated our 45th wedding anninversary. On our way back to Michigan we decided, on a whim, to stop in our favorite city, Chicago, and continue our celebration. We have stayed here numerous times over the past 32 years of Chicago visits. We enjoy the elegance and low keyed environment of boutique hotels at which the Talbott excels. The employees have always bent over backwards to accommodate our every request and need while remaining circumspect and in the background. The rooms are very clean & tastefully updated with excellent bath facilities - everything you would expect of an upscale hotel. Beds are fabulous, lots of pillows and quality bedding. The Concierge was up to her usual top performance and secured last minute (made after 5:30 p.m) dinner reservations for us. It was an unusally warm fall evening in early November (over 70 degrees) and we wanted a ethnic restaurant within walking distance. To our delight she suggested a French bistro on Rush Street a short walk from the hotel. Our meal was excellent and different (always a plus in our book) and reasonably priced. The old world ambience of the Talbott appeals to us and we always feel special when we stop in the cozy lobby for morning coffee by the fireplace, to sample their light buffet and spend a moment catching up on world events in Wall Street Journal and US News supplied by the hotel. We love the Gold Coast location of the Talbott, a short walk to the Magnificant Mile. Their in-out valet parking is great for us. I was also pleased that our favorite doorman, was still on the job. He is a true gentleman and brings a professionalism to his position. And as we departed we misplaced a hanging bag with an expensive leather coat and a suit. The following morning we called from home and within a few minutes they called us back that they had located it. They overnighted it to us at their cost. All around -- a class act.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

The hotel has no gift shop but there is a Deli on the corner of Rush and Delaware and a full grocery store on Wabash just south of Delaware, both a very short walk from the hotel. Lots of restaurants of all types within walking distance.

Neighborhood Hotel with plenty of old world charm

Sandwiched between State and Michigan the Talbot Hotel provides you that small hotel experience with freindly service and plenty of old world charm. Located on E. Delaware a quiet side street a mere two blocks from Water Tower Square at the North end of the Magnificent mile and at the foot of Rush the Talbot is ideally located for your visit to Chicago. Inimate and cozy the Talbot offers you old world charm. The rooms are big (especially compared to New York and London standards) tastefully decorated and clean. You got to love the big sren TV's and the large and elegant bathrooms. The hotel has a small bar and restaurant/Cafe in the lobby, but located just blocks away from the great restaurants in Chicago you'll probably want to take advantage of the Talbot's great location.

Very Nice Hotel

This was a comfortable and well appointed hotel with a great location. We had a huge room with a desk, sitting chair, King bed and wide screen TV. We were two short blocks from Michigan Avenue near the top of the Miracle Mile. The staff was very accommodating and changed our room when our first room was next to construction elevator across the alley outside.
