Nice stay at a great location

Very comfortable and pleasant weekend stay at the Talbott. The location was excellent--easy walk to Michigan Ave., restaurants, train, bus, etc. Starbuck's across the street was a plus, too. Was quiet despite some concerns about this in other posts. No exercise facility onsite, but gave a pass to one 3 blocks away with lots of options. The bed was perhaps a little too soft, but otherwise enjoyed the room. Concierge staff was extremely helpful. Overall, a great stay!

Great location and surprisingly quiet!

I've stayed at several hotels in Chicago and this one has stood out as one with some of the friendliest staff. They were very attentive to us whenever we came down to the lobby, and I liked how it was smaller than the other chain like hotels. This one felt very personable. The hotel was also quiet which surprised me for the location. The only thing I'd probably suggest is a better bed as ours was a little stiff. Otherwise, a good stay and I'd probably stay here again.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

I wouldn't recommend the Cru Wine bar across the street, the service was so opposite to what we had at the hotel. I should have eaten at the hotel.

Good Value

The hotel and room was clean and well appointed (decent free Wi-Fi, nice terry towels, nice desk, bed, TV, and a Mac mini computer that uses the TV as monitor). The only thing that was a little awkward was the sitting chairs; both were low to the ground and tilted forward. The front legs on the chair appeared to be shorter than the back legs???? Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel is just a short walking distance to a nice area with a dozen or more good places to eat. The subway and trolley (for tourists) is a short walk from the hotel. The only other issue I thought was a little much as I need a roll away bed for a third person and they charged $100 for 4 days. I do recommend the hotel.

Perfect long weekend

This hotel was perfect for us - while not cheap, it was one of the least expensive hotels in the area. I had somewhat low expectations in light of this, but the Talbott Hotel pleasantly surprised me at every turn. Professional, courteous and friendly staff. Excellent, clean rooms. Parking is expensive - we ended up doing the validated self-park at the lot around the corner which worked out perfectly well for us.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Use the validated self-park around the corner instead of valet at the hotel if you don't need in-and-out privileges throughout a given day. This costs $36 overnight as opposed to $50.

Chicago Weekend

Extremely friendly staff. An easy walk to Michigan Avenue. Room was very clean and larger than expected, although the bathroom was tight. The only downside was the bed was too firm for us.

Quiet comfort in a hoppin' location...

The Talbott is a renovated, classic hotel for those who prefer NOT to have to shout to be heard by companions and hotel personnel in a lobby filled with hard surfaces and bar patrons (as is the case with so many other higher-end hotels). The rooms are well appointed and maintained. Service (ice delivery, concierge, turn-down), etc. was very prompt and personable. Location is excellent, within walking distance of shopping, dining, nightlife, etc.
