The Talbott Hotel is a European-style resort, which is reflected by the Italian Frette linen you'll find in each of its guest rooms. This AAA Four Diamond Hotel is a member of the Historic Hotels of America, as well as being one of the first Green Seal-certified hotels in the United States, so guests can be sure that their stay will have minimal impact on the environment.

The Art Institute of Chicago is less than two miles from The Talbott's front entrance, boasting a staggering collection of over 250,000 works of art, including work by Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet and Mary Cassatt.
Highlights

When guests are not relaxing in their rooms, they can easily explore the downtown Chicago area thanks to the hotel's convenient location in the Gold Coast neighborhood. Go shopping at the Magnificent Mile, or for entertainment, Drury Lane Theater is located in Water Tower Place, while the Lookingglass Theater is located next to Water Tower Place. Rush Street is just outside the doors of the hotel and is famous for its nightclubs and restaurants.

The Talbott Hotel will accept up to two well-behaved dogs per room with a combined weight of 50 pounds. Luxury pet boutique Tails in the City is located just across the street. The hotel houses one on-site restaurant, the Mercadito Fish Co, but the Signature Room on 95th, Tavern on Rush, and Merlot on Maple are a few of the dining options located close to the hotel.

Old School Classy with Modern Technology

Often times you are stuck choosing between a really cool old hotel that has been around forever but hasn't gotten around to updating any of their technology or equipment. This ranges anywhere from the elevators not working, WiFi being garbage or actually costing money (come on... its 2015!), down to the bathrooms being outdated and just lacking in what modern hotels have. On the other end of the spectrum, you have modern hotels that have cutting edge technology but lack the charm and class of older hotels that have been around and know how to treat people. They also cut corners whereever they can because they are being built today, not by the skilled craftsman of yester-year. Anyways, the Talbott Hotel is one of the best combinations of the good things about old and new hotels. Your TV and AppleTV/iPad synch is great. Your keycard doesn't fail. The walls aren't paper thin. The bathroom was gorgeous and incredibly well done clean, lots of space, heater and AC inside, jets in bathroom. The location is relative to what you are doing and where you are going in Chicago, but this is close to downtown and was only a $17 uber ride away from McCormick where my wife and I were going for the duration of our trip (3 days). I will be coming back to the Talbott again next year during our yearly trip.

Awesome family reunion

I was recently in Chicago for a family reunion and was looking to stay in a hotel that met all my needs and exceeded my expectations. The Talbott Hotel is not your usual cookie cutter hotel, it has class and personality with a nostalgic feel of old Chicago. The staff was very professional and knowledgeable of the city and attractions from breakfast, dinner to fun. The room was spotless with beautiful expensive decor and furniture. Whenever I'm in Chicago I will stay at The Talbott Hotel.

Classic Chicago experience

My wife and I usually prefer more modern accommodations but the level of comfort and classic feel was a nice way to experience Chicago. Good restaurants nearby, Miracle Mile close and the red line made for a convenient stay.
