Great Hotel

What a great hotel! Excellent location (just down the street from the Four Seasons), rooms much larger than one typically finds in hotels located in a city, and a very helpful - it just doesn't get much better. Moreover, a tremendous value. I would stay at The Talbott again in a heartbeat.

This hotel rocks

The vintage look of the hotel lobby and rooms belies all the modern comforts and cleanliness you would expect of a top hotel near the Mile. Walking distance of literally anything great, from the best restaurants (Spiaggia around the corner, Purple Pig less than a mile away right on Michigan Ave.) and world class shopping galore to simple stuff like a super efficient and friendly Starbucks kitty corner on Delware (open at 5 am). The staff is nice, gets the job done quickly without any nonsense, and takes care of this hotel with superb service. Personalized wake-up calls, friendly room attendants who clean your room while you're out in the am and it's all totally ready for you by afternoon nap time. And, even near the elevator, our room was darned near sound proof--very restful. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Only problems: our TV cable, connected to a computer, kept going out from time to time as we watched. No big deal: we weren't there to watch TV on our vacation. And, our room did not have one of those U-shaped door stoppers at the top, which is a good back-up to the regular deadbolt and lock. However, the hotel was absolutely safe, clean and satisfactory.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

If the weather is right, forego public transit and cabs and just walk to the Art Institute, Field Museum and Shedd at the Museum complex--lovely shopping and eating all along the way (including the outstanding Purple Pig near the river on Michigan Ave.--have the bone marrow appetizer and expect great service, world class Mediterranean food and fun atmosphere at cool prices).

Great weekend retreat in Chicago

My fiancĆ©e and I decided to escape to Chicago for a long weekend this past weekend and decided on the Talbott. We could not have chosen a better hotel for our stay. This boutique hotel had everything we needed; it’s location was premium- right off of State St., a block from Rush and two blocks from Michigan Ave., the service was excellent, and the room was charming. We stayed in a standard King, but it was very large with a sitting area that included dual chairs with excellent lighting, a large desk and a good size bathroom. The bed was very comfortable, as well as the bedding. A large wardrobe provided two closets flanking a mini bar/refrigerator and flat panel TV that was also an Apple computer. This allowed us to search locations and schedules. There was a restaurant and bar which was small but nice, and the lobby offered three separate sitting areas with fireplaces in two of them- where we took a night cap relaxed one evening after a great dinner at the Signature Room. I would definitely return and recommend to anyone looking for great service and the Gold Coast experience

Entertainment tip: Short drive from hotel

Avoid the large House of Blues- opt for the smaller venues. We went to Blue Chicago, $10 cover and amazing entertainment. Also- Second City "UP" stage was very funny, and the French Restaurant they partner with for the "dinner and show" was excellent and a good value.

Amazing time with family in Chicago!

The location was fantastic. We had 2 rooms; one for our 3 teenage kids and one for ourselves. Everyone was pleased with the spaciousness. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. We will definitely return on our next visit!

One of my favorites.

The Hotel Talbott is one of my favorite places to stay in Chicago. The location is ideal with all the vitals; restaurants, a hair salon, starbucks, and shopping on the block. And my favorite exercise studio is only a block away. The staff could not be nicer or more friendly. The rooms are large and spacious, and the bed is comfy. I travel to Chicago nearly every week and have stayed at over 20 hotels. The Hotel TTalbott is my go to hotel.

Great Family Spring Break

The Talbott is in a perfect spot near great shopping, restaurants, and the bus line. The staff and service were absolutely top notch. The hotel is lovely and comfortable. We spent a week sightseeing and shopping in Chicago each day, came back to the hotel to rest and freshen up, and then walked to dinner at one of the many great little spots nearby.

Wonderful find!

From the moment we walked into the lobby, we felt at home . Chicago was very cold and the lobby has two fire places going at all times. The staff was helpful and friendly. I wish we could always stay in a hotel like this one.
