Landmark in the Loop near attractions and shopping
It's only fitting that this historic hotel is just a few blocks from Jewelers Row given its name and former purpose. In the 1890s, its tenants worked in the jewelry and silver trade. Today, landmark elements -- a cast iron staircase, terra cotta touches -- give the Silversmith Hotel Chicago a unique architectural identity. Ideally situated near the Magnificent Mile and Millennium Park, the Silversmith Hotel Chicago appeals to budget-minded travelers seeking quick access to Chicago's most popular attractions.
Highlights
  • One block to the Magnificent Mile, Millennium Park and State Street shopping
  • 24-hour fitness center
  • Free high-speed Internet access throughout the hotel
  • Dining at Ada's Deli & Restaurant and cocktails at the 14 Karat Lounge
  • Historic, independent hotel with Arts and Crafts style
Rooms

Rooms and suites at the Silversmith Hotel Chicago serve their purpose, providing comfortable beds and a place to freshen up in between sightseeing excursions. The hotel’s 12-foot ceilings add dimension, while 10-foot picture windows view the city and the El. Wood headboards, desks and Prairie-style lamps complete the casual look. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available throughout the property.

Excellent Location

The Silversmith is located at a great location about a block and an half from the Chicago Bean and Chicago Institute of Art. I was actually recuperating from throat surgery so I didn't have the energy to venture out to much but I do plan on going back to Chicago and staying at this hotel.

The hotel is in an amazing location, couldn't ask for better. The staff were very helpful, they have valet service if you have a car which is very convenient as they are located in the heart downtown and parking is not easy to find. The subway was about a block down so very easy access. The room was huge, two double beds, the bathroom was great and clean. Loved this place.

Great Location, Beautiful Interiors

If you want to be in the loop and near everything downtown, this is a great hotel. The interiors are clean and very elegant. The Hotel is just outside of the "L" train. Our room was facing the trains. With the double-paned glass, we really only noticed the trains a couple of times during our four day stay (much to the delight of our train-obsessed two-year-old). Even then, they weren't enough of a nuisance to wake my husband, who is a very light sleeper. My understanding from the front desk is that you can be moved to a different room if the "L" noise causes issues. The negatives: I had an Executive King suite, but the bed was only a Queen size. Tips: Use Spot Hero to reserve parking nearby at half the cost (Hotel is $56 per night) Use Seamless or a similar delivery service to get UNOs and other great food delivered.

Great location and very helpful staff. Spacious room and comfortable bed and sitting area. Bar drinks and food pricey, but we found that everywhere in Chicago! Great experience overall.

Great hotel!

Great room in a nice location. On the first night, we were told the room was unavailable due to AC not working - they paid for our first night in a nearby hotel and upgraded us to a suite for the remainder of the trip. Classy way to handle a problem and we were very satisfied with the rest of the stay!

Fun Weekend Birthday

We were here for a weekend vacation and were very pleased with our choice at the Silversmith. The convenient location was top notch, and we took the metro in and out of O'hare (just 50 minutes away) Airport. We walked to Lake Michigan, The Bean, and The Willis Tower - all within a mile radius of the hotel! The staff was friendly and the room was stocked with great toiletries and Krug coffee & machine. The nice addition of the living room made the room extremely spacious. Overall, would be happy to return!

Great experience

Everyone at the silversmith is super friendly! They really made my first time in Chicago so much more worth it. The room was very clean and modern, the beds were very very comfortable and the entire look of the hotel was beautiful. Everything was within walking distance and the metro and L stations were around the corner. I will definitely go back to the silversmith.

Great Weekend

Stayed here when we traveled to Chicago for an anniversary weekend. The room was nice and the staff was courteous. There was some trashy woman yelling in the hallway at someone on the phone in the middle of the night but that isn't the hotels fault. Overall great experience. We were a little disappointed that we wanted a drink and the bar was already closed. We ended going up the street to the Tilted Kilt for a snack and a couple of drinks.
