Landmark in the Loop near attractions and shopping
It's only fitting that this historic hotel is just a few blocks from Jewelers Row given its name and former purpose. In the 1890s, its tenants worked in the jewelry and silver trade. Today, landmark elements -- a cast iron staircase, terra cotta touches -- give the Silversmith Hotel Chicago a unique architectural identity. Ideally situated near the Magnificent Mile and Millennium Park, the Silversmith Hotel Chicago appeals to budget-minded travelers seeking quick access to Chicago's most popular attractions.
Highlights
  • One block to the Magnificent Mile, Millennium Park and State Street shopping
  • 24-hour fitness center
  • Free high-speed Internet access throughout the hotel
  • Dining at Ada's Deli & Restaurant and cocktails at the 14 Karat Lounge
  • Historic, independent hotel with Arts and Crafts style
Rooms

Rooms and suites at the Silversmith Hotel Chicago serve their purpose, providing comfortable beds and a place to freshen up in between sightseeing excursions. The hotel’s 12-foot ceilings add dimension, while 10-foot picture windows view the city and the El. Wood headboards, desks and Prairie-style lamps complete the casual look. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available throughout the property.

Excellent choice for first time visitors

This was our first visit to Chicago and we were delighted with the location. We like to explore on foot, and it was the perfect position for walking to Magnificent Mile and River North, plus the nearby Metro stops allowed us to explore further afield and it was only a $10 taxi ride to Old Town. We also took full advantage of being just a block away from Macy's! The front desk staff were courteous and helpful, as were the staff who brought us room service. (Very tasty breakfasts by the way!) One day housekeeping forgot to leave towels, but we had new ones within five minutes of making a call to Reception so it was really no bother. Overall, an excellent choice - we really hope to return!

Try Topo Gigio - a great neighbourhood Italian in Old Town, recommended to us by locals. Fantastic staff and food, and a great atmosphere, and it's only a short cab ride away.

Classy for a Reasonable Cost

Excellent! I was attending a convention at the Hilton, which cost $100 more per night than this hotel. The Silversmith is classy, well-decorated, all new. Very nice bar and seating area. Friendly efficient staff. Very nice room. Had a great stay! I would like to return sometime and stay there just to enjoy all that downtown Chicago has to offer. Took the train from the airport ($3) to within 20 paces of the front door of the hotel!

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Take the train to and from the airport. Takes a bit longer (maybe) but only costs $3 each way. Very easy to understand how to use the train, too!

LITERALLY AMAZING.

We went to Chicago for our 3yr. anniversary and could not have picked a more beautiful, convenient, or helpful hotel in the city. It was our first time visiting the Windy City and the staff could not have been more accommodating, welcoming, and kind. It is right next to the Loop train system which connects to all of the major trains in the city and airports. The silver theme in the hotel is definitely seen but not overwhelming or tacky. It's modern and still very cozy which is wonderful. The room was cleaned everyday while we were out and stocked with fresh towels, soaps, and robes. It was a relief knowing we didn't have to worry about a thing. The restaurant downstairs, Adamus, had delicious food at all hours of the day - especially breakfast. And the room was beautiful and the perfect size for 2 people just looking to get away for a long weekend. Can't say enough about this hidden gem!!

Great Hotel

Great Hotel! Clean and friendly staff. Nicely laid out rooms and very cool decor/theme. The rates are high but compared to some of the other options it's a good bet if you want to be south of the river but in the area.

It was just what we needed

This hotel is near everything! Just blocks away from the art museum and the famous metallic "bean"! Target and Macy's are less than a block away. Plus nice restaurants within walking distance.

Great Small Hotel in a Great Location

Was looking for the best hotel at the cheapest price near Millennium Park. This hotel ranked very high on TA. Location is wonderful to both Millennium Park and the financial district. Would definitely stay here again if the price was right.

great location

this is our first visit to Chicago so we weren't too sure where to stay. we found the Silversmith and thought we'd give it a try since it's close to Millennium Park. it ended up being so convenient! took the train from O'Hare to two blocks away from the hotel, and it was so easy to get around the city from the hotel. and it was great to come "home" to a super comfy bed after a long day exploring Chicago. we'd definitely stay here again!

Swank hotel in Chicago

The Silversmith is a swank hotel, with a phenomenal location. The room was spacious and clean. The staff was wonderful. The only thing missing was coffee in the room, but it was a quick walk over to Starbucks, so even that wasn't an issue.
