poor

The staff was average, the room was average, the bed was springy and creaky. The elevators were slow. The valet service was disorganized. This was supposed to be a five star hotel it was like a two star motel. Very disappointed. Would not stay here again.

Fantastic service & location, smallish rooms

I stayed in a standard room while in Chicago on business, which had a writing desk and small seating area. The bathroom had both a shower and tub, as well as a water closet. However it felt a bit cramped, like I was always walking into a door. That said, the service was impeccable and the concierge was very quick to respond to my requests.

Almost perfect

A true 4.5 star hotel. However, our room was too warm - the lowest thermostat setting too warm.

Excellent place

Excellent location and an excellent hotel. Great rooms, very nice people, and great bed/bathroom facilities. Of course, for all that you do pay a bit, so its not a 'bargain".

Family tradition

My family and I stay at the Peninsula the night of the magnificent Mile lights Parade and the entire stay was wonderful. Including valet parking to checking in and the bell hop. The room was fabulous and looked on to Michigan Ave. there was a section set aside for the hotel guests that was up front and as great!!!! Every year I will continue to bring my family back to the Peninsula.

Difficult check in process

Great hotel and amenities but the check in process was very difficult. My wife checked us in but it took 30 minutes for the front desk to find our reservation which was made through An on line travel service that begins with O and ends in Z. Even with the confirmation copy in hand the front desk couldn't find our reservation which delayed us by 30 minutes. I wouldn't expect this at a five star hotel.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Purchase the Chicago City Pass. It is a booklet of tickets to major museums, John Hancock and Sears Tower. It gives you fast pass entrance to all the venues. It was well worth it!

City Luxury

We lived in Chicago for 15 years, so I'd like to say I know the city pretty well. This is the best hotel in the city. Luxurious hotel, great location in middle of Michigan Avenue, prompt staff, and best of all--an INCREDIBLE spa and fitness center. You cannot miss this part. Enjoy the fitness center/spa first so as not to miss out. It's fantastic!

Great hotel in a fantastic location

Peninsulas never disappoint. Friendly and helpful staff, efficient check-in/out and large, clean rooms. Very comfortable beds, linens and pillows. Only criticism is the room service. At the Four Seasons, you can order ANYTHING at ANY time and they'll make it happen.

Classy and Inviting

From the check in experience through housekeeping and room-service, this is a top of the line hotel. The rooms are stylish and contemporary - we had a great view as well. No detail is too small - from doormen who push the revolving door for you, to bedside slippers at turndown, to inviting original art pieces throughout. Add in a fantastic location with abundant dining and shopping within steps of the hotel, and you will never want to stay anyplace else in Chicago.
