Exquisite brass peacock doors welcome guests to The Palmer House Hilton, which is a National Landmark Historical Hotel. The old-world elegance of the lobby belies the modernity of a stay in Chicago's Loop. Guest rooms feature flat-screen TVs and ample space for unwinding and relaxing and pets are also allowed within the building.

Executive suites provide private check-in, elevator service and other perks. Guest rooms are decorated based on different themes, and you can choose the atmosphere you desire. Whether you want a room blending the hip with the historical or one that is convenient, accessible and business-oriented, you can get a room that fits your needs.

Highlights

The Palmer House Hilton is right in the middle of Chicago's financial, business and theater districts. Guests can easily walk to the Willis Tower, Grant Park, Millennium Park, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Art Institute of Chicago. Numerous subway lines located nearby also make getting around Chicago a breeze.

The on-site Lockwood Restaurant and Bar serves three meals daily with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Afternoon tea services in the lobby pay homage to a time gone by, and for a drink in the evenings, guests can head to Potter's Lounge.

A fitness center provides a perfect place for guests to unwind, and the Balance Spa offers massages, pedicures, skin therapy and hair styling.

Perfect Chicago Spring Break

The Palmer House is my go-to Chicago hotel. I love how close it is to the Red Line and to the Loop shopping. It's right across from the Bean and all the great theaters and donut shops. It's clean, updated, modern and classic at the same time. Highly recommend.

Good Location and Clean Rooms

The rooms are a little small but they were very nice. Great location within walking distance to almost anything. Was perfect for the Thanksgiving parade. There was a conference room upstairs that they let people sit in to watch the parade from inside. Very accommodating staff.

classic hotel in heart of Chicago

Love the history here. Solid CHI landmark and nothing about it says chain-hotel experience. Fast check-in, friendly staff, dedicated elevators to top floors so less waiting for everyone. "L" stop right outside the door (where it's underground and not elevated so no noise). Easy walk to Michigan Ave and sites. Right next to great State St. shopping.

Historic Chicago

The Palmer House was a very large and well located hotel in downtown Chicago. Our room was quite big with two double beds and a spacious sitting area. The hotel is older but well maintained and updating has kept with the historic style. Very quiet and convenient.

Beware of the prices provided on the list the hotel provides for local restaurants. Some of them are a little pricey. There are good I expensive restaurants close by. There is a really good Mediterranean restaurant around the corner in the same building. The proximity to shopping was excellent!

Overpriced...smelled like tobacco and elevators were slow and squeaky. Our ac rattled. $300 a night

Could have been more sanitary. Elevators were sticky and had a bug that looked like a roach. Not my kind of Hotel for $250 a night. Room was tiny and AC rattled all night no cofee maker, microwave etc.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

The bakery on the corner of Wabash and Monroe is not a good choice but Vapiano on the other side of the street is amazing and pretty inexpensive.
