Spacious room in beautiful hotel

The Palmer House has a picturesque lobby that really leaves a lasting impression on any traveler. The hotel had a spacious room with decent amenities. The pool was a bit smaller than we anticipated, but that's not what we came for.

Avec. A short trip from the hotel, but so worth it. I heard Blackbird (next door) is also good.

Fantastic weekend

Went to Chicago for a long weekend. This hotel was the perfect location!! Within walking distance to everything. Room was small, but I didn't come to Chicago to stay in a room. People here are extremely friendly. Would definately recommend this place. Love Millers Pub right next door.

Very Impressed

From the time we pulled up in front of the hotel, to the time we checked out, the staff at the hotel went out of their way to accommodate us. I have never stayed anywhere that the staff was this friendly and helpful. Everyone we encountered went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. I cannot say enough nice things about the concierge. The concierge printed out our theater tickets, walked us through the train system, and even gave us a great lead on a great dinner. The hotel was beautiful with a kind of retro elegance. The black and white photos of movie stars up-and-down the halls added to the decor. The hotel was decorated for Christmas when we were there, so that added charm made it even more beautiful. The hotel was in close proximity to most popular sites, as well as the train stations. I will certainly stay again the next time I am visiting Chicago.

Are you serious!?

I was in town recently for a conference and stayed at the Palmer House. The hotel loby was opulent, the staff were courteous and helpful, and the location was excellent, but to say that the room was incredibly dissapointing would be an understatement. - Wallpaper was coming off the bedroom walls in at least 4 different locations and off one wall in the bathroom - There was still trash in the wastebasket from the previous guest - The grout and caulk in the outdated shower was discolored - The toilette seat did not stay up, which made using the restroom standing up a little challenging to say the least - The smoke detector was no longer attached to the wall but was instead resting on a picture frame - The furniture was dated, but not in an esthetically pleasing/historical sense - Don't get me started on the price for internet service or quality of image on the relic of a TV Because of the nature of my visit, I just needed a place to sleep, so the condition of the room was not really that important for my stay in particular. However, if I had come to Chicago for a special occasion and was given this room, I would have been livid, especially for the price.

Beautiful Hotel

Great hotel, staff was super very attentive. Beautiful lobby. Only issue was that noise from hallway seemed to carry into our room.

Great location

We were surprised how busy the hotel was during our brief stay. Staff and location incredible -- doesn't get much better. However, when we arrived we were put in a room with a double bed (we requested a king) and were told since we booked through a discount internet site, they could change anything. But, within seconds we were given another room with a king -- so in the end it was no problem.

Great location with gorgeous interior...

The historical Palmer House Hotel near Jewelers Row on our trip to Chicago was a great stay. The price was right, the interior was beautiful, and the staff was friendly. It had it's convenience with a Starbucks, restaurant, gift shop, jewelers and bar located within the hotel and it was only a few blocks away from several highlights of the city (The Art Institute of Chicago, Millennium Park, Michigan Avenue, Marshall Fields, etc.). The only downside was that the size of the room was a bit small. Overall, a wonderful place to stay while enjoying the Windy City.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Miller's Pub on South Wabash Avenue was a great find for some late night eatery. Super close to the Palmer House Hotel, great food, atmosphere and drinks made this restaurant a highlight of our trip.
