Working in Chi-town
This hotel is a great value. For $159 bucks the lobby is beautiful, cool bar, good restaurant, and the room appeared to have been recently updated. It was very very nice.

Historic Hotel
I will be looking for a reason to stay at this hotel again. While I admit, the train was loud, the bed wasn't very comfortable, I could hear every door on my hall close, and the plumbing from other rooms was loud, it is by far the coolest hotel I have ever stayed in. It is rich with history, and the lobby is a breath taking experience. There is nothing like this hotel anywhere.

Romantic Getaway
My girlfriend and I stayed for a night in the city. We are from the suburbs so we just wanted a little getaway in the city. I like that the hotel is right in the heart of the city. There is plenty of shopping, much to my girlfriends enjoyment. There are several things to do with Chicago broadway in the area, museums, and plenty of attractions. It's is very easy to get around with cta trains and buses all over the loop and very easy to grab a cab. The conceirge and rest of that staff was more than to suggest places to eat and things to do. Overall afantastic

One night getaway
I took my girlfriend to the city just for a day and night out. Since we are from the suburbs we just took the train into the city. The hotel is wonderfully located right in the heart of the loop which makes is very easy to get around. It is centrally located to it is easy to hop on a bus or on the train system or grab a cab. There is tons to do within walking distance which made for a nice romantic fun filled night. This a great historic hotel that is very esquisite and has great amenities for the guests. I would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend.

Great Hotel in Chicago
My wife and I booked the Palmer House because of the price and the location. After we saw the lobby we agree that we must come back.

If you want a good cup of coffee and some good bread for breakfast, do not go to the Artists Cafe in Michigan Avenue.

Not to my taste...
Don't get me wrong, the open/common spaces at this hotel are extraordinarily beautiful. But, the rooms are small, and, while they are renovated, they are still pretty old. The Hard Rock Hotel was offering a much better overall package (much nicer and larger rooms) for the same price.

Palmer House Hilton
In short the stay there was disappointing. I requested a smoking room and got it but it was an extremely small room. My friends who paid 20-30 dollars less a night got much bigger rooms. There was barely any space between the bed and the TV. The TV was an SDTV. It had very few channels. And in other rooms there were better channels. The second night the internet stopped working even though I was trying to pay. I was there for a conference and it was really important for me to have access to my email. I kept calling them and all they would say would be "We know there is a problem, we are working on it, we can't say when it will be fixed, and no Sir we do not have any back up, if you need internet, you can go to the lobby". The last night my card also stopped working. I could not get into my room. They sent the security guy who was very nice but even his card didn't work. Eventually after about 15 minutes I was able to get in, get my ID and get a new card. At check out, I was asked how the stay was, I said it wasn't good and the lady casually said "Oh, I apologize" and didnt even bother to ask what was wrong. Not a very pleasant experience.

Disappointed
Dinner at Lockwood was great. Room service delivery was great. Building is beautiful. Everything else.... way sub-par. The bed and pillows were so uncomfortable - I woke up every hour. Breakfast/Coffee (room service) was barely diner quality. For the price/value.... I would never recommend staying here. Come in, look at how gorgeous it is, eat dinner, and then stay somewhere else.

Lovely historic hotel
My husband and I stayed at the Palmer House in an executive level room for Christmas Eve. We had a wonderful time. The hotel is beautiful. Historic photos and paintings adorn the walls. We strongly recommend the executive level experience. The only thing we didn't like was the television—it was a little small and old.

Money-saving tip:
In Hotel
Pay the extra money for an executive level room. The unlimited snacks and non-alcoholic drinks as well as the deluxe continental breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres are worth it.
