Classic and gorgeous hotel!
The Drake is a beautiful and historic hotel. The bed was a little wobbly however and there was a spot on the stool by the bed. Many amenities, such as an exercise rooms and various on-site restaurants.

Expensive, but great location
We've stayed at the Drake Hotel 5 times before, and we really like the history and beauty of the hotel, but some things have changed this time, and we weren't exactly happy about it. They sent us to a room which wasn't ready at all which was very disturbing, and they weren't very apologetic about it, or even offer us an upgrade. They used to give you a free bottle of water in your room on the first day, now they want a WHOPPING $7.00 for ONE bottle! Hard to believe, and even given this economy today, it's way out of line. We like the rooms, the location, the hotel itself, and the room service is adequate. We had noisy neighbors this time, though, who partied until 1:30 a.m., and we could hear it all through the walls. There also seemed to be a lot of people how don't know how to close a door quietly, and there was a lot of loud slamming of doors at all hours of the morning and night. It wasn't the most pleasant stay we had, but all in all, we'll probably be back, if not for anything else but our yearly tradition.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
Be sure to visit the beautiful John Hancock building a few short steps away from the hotel. It's magnificent and we visit it at least twice each time we're in Chicago. The view from the 94th floor observatory is breathtaking. We like it a lot better than the Sears tower, which is only a few floors higher. We think the view is so much nicer from the John Hancock. There's also plenty of shopping and nightlife very close by.

Only place to stay in Chicago for me
This was my second time staying at the Drake Hotel and will not be my last. The 1st time I stayed at the Drake was for a wedding that was actually at the Drake. This time I flew in from Cleveland to Propose to the love of my life. The only Hotel I would consider in Chicago is the Drake. Great atmosphere and location! You can't go wrong.

Huge Need For Improvement
As a seasoned international traveler for business and a slightly less seasoned traveler for vacations, this is the worst hotel for the money I have ever stayed in. The location was great and the staff quite helpful. The room was a joke for the price. My 2 day stay in the heart of Chicago was far from enjoyable. Upon arrival, the refrigerator was broken. A call was put in for a replacement refrigerator that was delivered the next day. It finally got cold by the day I left. I and my friend had to use a hotel garbage can filled with ice to keep anything cold. Every food item we brought back had to be thrown out, since the replacement refrigerator never cooled enough. Beautiful location, but I cannot recommend anyone to stay there.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
If you are looking for some nice stores, Louis Vuitton, Bvlgari, they're very close. The John Hancock Building is close too and has some great city views.
