Wait for room availability

I was very annoyed that after arriving very exhausted I has to wait almost 3 hours to get toy room. Was told that the occupants had a late check out so I had to wait.

Great overnight stay between trains.

Grand hotel in the style of luxurious travel. Something we don't usually enjoy in todays high tech world. Once in a while it's great to slow down and take a walk along Michigan Ave as a tourist instead of the speed racer on my way to the next critical meeting or vital appointment. People become more interesting and the landscape more colorful. I'll do the same thing when I have the time and opportunity.

Cute hotel, get the suite!

We had a family vacation in chicago and booked a suite at drake for three nights. The room is well decorated and has a classic feel to it. Clean, comfy, roomy, good price for three people! Location is awesome if you like to shop. The art gallery at first floor is a pleasant surprise. Only complaint: I am picky about shampoos and soaps. Drake could improve a bit on that aspect. Peter roth is a good brand, but too generic. I can travel to any comfort inn and see the same shampoo. The Drake can definitely find something more local or romantic than that.

Christmas in Chicago

I stayed at the Drake right before Thanksgiving and the hotel was absolutely gorgeous with it's Christmas decorations. The Christmas tree in the lobby was beautiful. The staff was helpful in everyway, the rooms were comfortable and I loved the coffee shop on the ground floor.

Thanksgiving Getaway

My wife and I had stayed at the Drake before, and we found that the second time around was just as good as the first. Everything, from the staff to the location, was perfect.

A class act

The Drake stands out in one of the most competitive hotel markets in America. As soon as you set foot in it, you're aware that this is a different kind of hotel experience. This isn't a hotel for conventioneers or business conferences; it's for people who enjoy staying in an elegant and unpretentious setting. I was fortunate to see the Christmas displays, and to see children and adults take the time to enjoy the quiet and festive atmosphere. The Drake is like an older relative who has managed to keep up with the times gracefully and without compromising anything. Even if you don't stay here, it's the kind of place you should check out (so that you can check in on your next visit to Chicago).

Getaway for few days

Old hotel that used to be one of the best in Chicago. But that was years ago, and the place shows its age now. The breakfast, included, was average. I had better breakfasts at less expensive European hotels. The service was also average at the restaurants and not what you would expect of a hotel of its name and fame. The money paid for the room was what I expected. But the price shows that the hotel is not what it used to be, If it were they would not be charging low rates. You get what you pay.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Don't even think of driving unless you are willing to pay $42 and up for overnight parking, and $4 per hour for street parking during the day (or $8 for 20 minutes at a parking garage). If you are familiar with the area, however, you can find overnight parking for free at LaSalle street, which is 5 to 6 blocks away.

Nice hotel, quite comfortable. Walking distance to a lot of great places and good shopping, as well as the navy pier.
