Great Location & Comfortable

The Allerton is in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the Magnificent Mile in Chicago. Our original room had no bath, but a shower. It was switched upon request. The room was clean and comfortable. Be prepared for a $45 a day valet charge, but it is unlmited calls and returns. There is remodeling going on currently,2/08. All the employees were friendly and helpful. The conceriege was very helpful and we were always pleased with the outcomes of her suggestions.

There is plenty of food and shopping close by, both a bit pricy but good. The Navy Pier is a comfortable walk away also. The Field Museum of Natural history and the Shed Aquarium are about a 2 mile walk on the lake front walk way also.

All-Around Wonderful

This hotel is in fantastic location right in the heart of the magnificent mile. Every employee that we can in contact with was helpful and friendly. The rooms were not only clean but very modern with large-flat screen tv and MP3 docking centers. The bedding was luxurious and the marble showers delightful. Complimentary coffee and hot cider in addition to the scrumptuous breakfast buffet added to our comfort. There was absolutely nothing that I would change.

Great dining choices and incredible shopping within a block from the hotel. Cab ride from Midway airport cost $28. From hotel, cab to Art Institute was $7 and to Field Museum $9.

great location

the allerton has a great location - right on the magnificent mile and across the street from a starbucks. the only small hassle is changing elevators to get out of the building -- lobby is on 3rd floor - restaurant, bar are on 2nd floor -- and rooms are all higher up on a different elevator bank. Not really abig deal but did spend time waiting for elevators. room was great - tv was a little weirdly situated in line with 2 beds so person in opposite bed had to look over the other bed to the tv -- but enough room and it was fine. breakfast from the restaurant was good. availability of things in the gift shop was good. bar was good. best thing is the location!

NIce hotel

We had a king size room which was inset from the hallway so the layout was very roomy. The bed and linens were very comfortable. Bathroom was adequate size. This is an older hotel so the elevators are small and sometimes slow. We did not dine in the restaurant due to the extremely high prices. Another tip is to check out in the morning and leave your bags with the doorman even if you don't leave until after noontime. It becomes very busy at noon and the staff do want you out of your rooms at noon so they can clean them. Hotel staff all very friendly.

There is a Corner Bakery to eat at for breakfast, lunch and dinner a block away from the hotel to the east. Reasonable prices for the area. They will also make to go orders.

Only the best.. WOW

From check-in to check-out and everything in between this hotel was first class. Every staff person we encountered including bell boys, maid service, banquet personnel and desk attendent went out of his way to help. Profuse smiles were the order of our three day stay. The room far exceeded our expectations. A couple of chairs would be an enhancement. We have travelled the U.S. and Europe extensively and to complain would be an injustice to this fine establishment.

We found city museums, terrific eateries, magnificent shopping convenient to the ALLERTON. Public transportation abounds. City street are clean and flower and plants are everywhere. Fine food locations abound. We want to go back and the ALLERTON will be our headquarters when we go.

While the room was quite small, it was confortably appointed. The staff was very helpful and answered all this first time Chicago vistor's questions. This is a great place to stay if you're traveling with someone or alone. It is very convenient to great restaurants and shopping.
