You Get What You Pay For!!
Great location on the MIracle Mile; however, the room was very small. There was only a rather small shower (no tub) in the bathroom. I am a small person however I don't believe a larger person would be able to comfortably use the shower. There was chipped paint, mold and mildew in the shower. There were red stains on the carpeting. The hotel staff wasn't the most helpful regarding how to navigate the Chicago subway system. Based on these issues, I would not stay at The Allerton again.

great location at reasonable price
Stayed for two nights during the memorial weekend. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. It is located close to one of metro stations so it was also convenient to come from and go to the airport.

If you get a good deal, stay here
I got an incredible deal thru this site, so for what I paid, you can't go wrong. Absolute great location. An older hotel, but it is a bit frayed around the edges. The free internet available in the lobby helps. I got upgraded from a small classic room to a top floor suite with great views of the Water Tower area. I would stay again if the price was right.

Disappointing view
Overall I was disappointed. Our room I believe was assigned to us because of our discount had two windows which looked out to a brick wall 10ft away. We couldn't tell if it was day or night raining or clear. The room was very compact and both of us kept stubbing our toes on a desk chair everytime we had to go to the bathroom. The elevators were hot and small and we waited a long time for them. I don't think I would stay here again

Close Proximity!
The Allerton Hotel is a great place to stay if you want to be close to all the action! We were able to walk everywhere: Navy Pier, the Water Tower, restaurants, shopping, and even the Field Museum (which was a little further, but a nice walk). There were even horse-drawn carriages outside the hotel on the other side of the street you could take a ride through the city on! The room was clean and had a very comfortable bed! I will definitely stay here again!

Great location to get about town
My sister & I enjoyed a lovely weekend at the hotel. The room was cold, like a meat locker & we could not adjust it. Poor cellular reception.

Great location - average hotel
The hotel was nice, but not over the top. Rooftop lounge is no longer open but the Shanghai Terrace at the Penninsula (right across the street) is a perfect rooftop destination. The hotel staff at the Allerton were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were okay, amenities okay. We didn't dine at the hotel - too much around the hotel to see and do to stay put for long!
