OK
Good location. Could use more toiletries in the bathroom. For example, No hand lotion provided. No coffee machine in room that most hotels provide which sucks. They offer coffee in Lobby but they take it away before 11am while supply last. It's a pain to go down to the lobby all the time for a coffee for a 6.5 ounce paper cup bring your large coffee mug. Elevators take time but that's expected for tall building. They make you pay $9.95/day for Internet most hotels provide that as part of their room cost. They have to realize most people need Internet don't nickel and dime them. Fitness center is decent but they should label which elevator goes to the 25th floor to get to the fitness center especially from your floor. It's nice but could use more basic exercise items like Medicine balls.

Weekend trip
Great location, two blocks from Water Tower Place. The room was a little smaller than I expected but perfect for an overnight stay and one or two people.

Heat wave!
It was cold outside but a sauna inside. For some reason they could not regulate the heat on the floor we were on. Despite three calls to the desk to have an "engineer " sent up the hallway stayed in the upper 80's and our room just below that despite the thermostat being set to its lowest point.. It was so warm chocolates we purchased on Michigan ave were turned to soup sitting on our desk. Needless to say, very uncomfortable at night. Room was clean and but avoid the top floor with rooms because you are right below the exercise room and some people drop the weights which sound like they are coming through the roof. Loved the location, easy walking distance to most everything we wanted to visit. Website says to use concierge for tickets and planning. On day we arrived could not find them. Front desk told us that he was off that day and no one could help us. On checkout day we spoke with him and he said that should not have happened and did credit us one days parking for the inconvenience. Except for the one employee at the desk, staff was helpful and friendly. The stifling heat in our hallway and room really put a damper on the trip. Most of the staff are trying hard but summer heat without air made for an uncomfortable stay.

Perfect Location, Helpful staff
Loved our stay at the Allerton. Very helpful staff, gave very good recommendations for restaurants and night life in the area. Only down side of room was no fridge, but overall the room was very clean.

Mmmmm
The faucet handle was missing one knob. The shower room door was upside down, making it hard to slide the door. Housing keeping didn't refill the shampoo and such stuff for two days. Also, the heater/ air conditioner made noise when it's running.

Nicely located, nicely priced but barebones
The Allerton was incredibly well located and a perfectly adequate place to stay in downtown Chicago. For the price, I would highly recommend it. That said, it would not be a good place to hang out in all day - the rooms are tiny, and there weren't many amenities. The two issues I had were the elevators were slow to arrive and always full (but this seems to be the case of all hotels in Chicago) and the heating system was noisy. However, for the price you couldn't beat it.
