Good place to stay.
The hotel staff, concierge, and valet were all very helpful. My only quibble was a delay involved in getting my luggage from the valet storage room up to my room. When I called a second time to check on it, they remedied the problem immediately. The room I had was small, but it is exactly what I expected for an older hotel in Chicago. IT was a good price and a nice room for somewhere to sleep.

Would Stay Again
Our two night stay worked out great at this hotel. It is basically on the miracle mile so location is fantastic, especially for shoppers, it is also a short walk to the red line, cabs are right outside and many places to eat nearby. The staff was very attentive, the bed was very comfortable and the hotel has lots of charm. I especially liked the marble bathroom and the glass-door shower. The room was small but cozy and there was plenty of room for our suitcases and lots of space in the closet to hang up clothing. The hotel bar is nice as well as the restaurant, but the food was so-so. We would stay at this hotel again for sure.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Stop at Portillos on Ontario for lunch or dinner, its a classic Chicago spot for casual dining and the food is excellent, especially Chicago-Style hot dogs and Italian Beef. Its a fast-food place but they do it right and serve beer! There are also neat items from the Old Chicago Stadium inside, including old seats and Bulls and Blackhawks memorabilia.

Quick trip
I was only in Chicago for 1 night, there for a job interview the next morning. Upon arrival, I was excited to see the location of the hotel! The front desk staff was awesome, the young lady asked me what I was doing in town, after learning I had a job interview she offered up a late check out for me without me asking. I was pleasantly surprised when I entered the room, was very tiny, but so cozy. The bathroom was adorable, I loved my view.....Michigan Avenue! My only complaint is the room was hard to regulate the temperature and the system was very loud. This hotel is not the Ritz, so don't go with that attitude and you'll love it. The location is perfect, I walked everywhere, and it's perfect for a getaway. Will stay there again on my next trip to The Windy City.

Millenium Park.... go the Park grille for lunch. It sits under the bean, and in the winter you can watch people skate.

Mediocre, means to an end
The hotel's location is fabulous and doesn't get better than this...we were able to walk everywhere and truly enjoyed every moment outside of the hotel. When I booked the room and it stated a double bed they were not kidding. The room barely fit two people - thank goodness we only used the room to sleep.

Needs a little something.
First off, there is not microwave, coffee maker and you can't use their refrigerator unless you're willing to pay a $125 fee for "restocking." The people are pretty nice. Room service goes until 11pm and is reasonably priced. The rooms are pretty small, though. This hotel is on Michigan Avenue and all of the touristy things are in reach. It's a fair hotel. Nothing too great but not bad.

The Merlin Monroe statue, Starbucks and "The Bean" are all a few blocks away from the hotel. Also, a short bus ride on the 3 bus will take you to the best park. The best little pizzeria, Uno's Pizza, is 3 blocks from the hotel, too! Deep dish. Yumm!

Allerton Hotel - Chicago Business Trip 2.12
The Allerton is a great restored hotel - part of Chicago's history. The room was surprisingly spacious for a hotel from this era - and very comfortable! Room service was quick, menu reasonably priced, food was great. The enitre staff was very helpful. Awesome location - right at Michigan Ave. & Huron - in middle of Magnificant Mile - two blocks south of Watertower Place - never any problem getting a cab, plus many places are easy walking distance. Also an incredible value in lodging with class in Chicago - I'll be back at the Allerton Hotel next time I visit Chicago!

Bandera - on Michigan Ave 2 blocks south of Allerton Hotel - great dining experience - jazz trio, great steaks, great bar, lots of people but not much of a wait - on second floor, east side of Mich Ave - enter from Mich Ave...
