Great Hotel Great Location

Very clean rooms, friendly staff. We did not like the pillows (too tall) but a quick call to the front desk solved the problem. I wish the wifi service was free.

Good for tourists, bad for business travelers

Great location on Michigan Ave and nicely decorated and clean rooms. Unfortunately there are no coffee makers in the rooms. Also, wifi is NOT FREE and costs at least $10/day depending on how much data you need. Disappointing.

You really do not need a car in this area. A lot of theaters, restaurants & museums are close. Very sophisticated transient system.

Location, Location, Location!

The Allerton Hotel is in the center of it all. You are in walking distance to all the prime stores on the Magnificent Mile and some of the best restaurants. The hotel staff was very nice and our room was very comfortable.

Bad Experience

Only thing I like about this hotel is location. Everything else I wish I had stayed in 2 star hotel. Bad impression as soon as we got inside - very small elevators - I would have one big elevator rather than multiple small elevators - very uncomfortable just for 4 people and imagine with luggage:(. Size of the room was not that small like other reviewer said. However, smell was terrible - thank god we had body spray with us. don't forget to take travel size room spray with you. there was a big machine green box right outside of the window - may be it was heat/air system. Constant sound like boom box was coming from that - very noisy room. We were on forth floor; may be floors above 5th floor are nice; If this hotel advertise itself as 4 star, they should shut down all rooms up to 4th floor. otherwise it is one star. I am just writing this review based on my room. I think the room bathroom also designed for handicap - water was all over the bathroom floor after shower - very bad design - if you don't take extra care, you would slip on the floor. We literally had to put towel on the floor to block water coming from the shower to floor. Now very disappointing part comes is front desk mistake charging us for the room reservation although we had already paid to orb itz. What is the purpose of going through orb itz? I never had problem like this before. I had made so many reservations from orb itz. And this is the first time I experienced worst and writing review as well :). Now post vacation headache comes - I got to call them and their phone system is worst - line was transferred to accounting and front desk back and forth for so many times; after 30 minutes someone from accounting answered the phone - phew. They called me back after 30 minutes saying they would credit the money. I will probably find out after couple of days. Don't forget to check your credit card account after vacation :)

Good for the value

Location can't get any better. We got a brick wall for a view but we just went to the hotel to sleep and wasn't a big deal for us. The staff is super courteous. The only bad are little details that I was expecting at a Chicago hotel. I'm used to have lotion when I go to hotels and don't carry mine but they don't offer it; there is nothing professional about the hair dryer like it says on the description and it would be nice if they have one of those "do not disturb" signs to hang on the door for housekeepers not to knock in the morning after going to sleep so late.

If you buy the CTA pass and the Chicago City Pass you can actually be in a great location and visit 5 attractions while on a budget. My kids are still wondering how did I afford it. Forever 21 is insane. I went to the ones by itself on North Michigan Ave but prefer the ones in the Water Towers since is less busy. While at the towers, go have lunch and dessert in the lower level! Patron's Hacienda and TGIF are nearby. Don't forget Graciano's Pizza!

Service must have been on vacation

The staff either needs to have a new lesson on customer service or the hoetl must have been having a training of new staff when I was there. The staff was not even friendly. When i checked out, the women was actually talking on the phone to someone else and didn't even thank me for staying there. Hotel needs to understand what customer service is. Elevators were slow. My room had a tv on the side of the room and not in front of the bed. The bar was small and when I went down for a drink, I asked if I could sit at a table in the closed dinning room since there was no place to stay. the bartender said no and then moved on to another customer.

2 Day Sprg Vac

Location, Location, Location - a perfect place to stay if you want to enjoy the City of Chicago. Departmental shopping within walking distance, Great, but also reasonable places to eat are around the corner. We had breakfast at Wild Berries @ Rondolph/Michigan. Dinner at Cheese Cake Factory and Lunch @ Hancook Building 96th Floor - Great view for the city of Chicago. Hotel receptionists were excellent and very helpful. We enjoyed the Flower Show @ May C's. We do like spacious rooms so we stayed one King Bed which we greatly recommend or upgrade to a suite. You feel like in a box if you take standard room. Bye.
