We were unimpressed
Hometown Traveler Dec 1, 2009
There is a $15/day charge to use the pool - -YUCK! The pool and whirlpool are nice, but shouldn't be an added cost. This is ... a big chain hotel with little luxury to offer. Felt like the mini-bar was fitted with a camera. Something fell out and we had a knock on our door 15 minutes later asking if we needed the minibar restocked - - weird. The lobby has no draw to sit and relax (more like pass through and get out). There is coffee in the lobby that looks inviting, but then you notice the sign that indicates "For British Airways Only". They offered to upgrade our room for an additional $100/day. Hmmmmmmmm. Not really much of a bargain. The place really lacks atmosphere in all respects. [...]

AWESOME HOTEL!!! Staff was incredible from check in to check out... We upgraded to suite and could not believe the views ... over the Navy Pier and lake!! My 8 year old was treated was like a princess. Lobby lounge was awesome. We went every night. Quick taxi ride to everywhere or walking distance. Hotel restaurants pricey but not unexpected.

This hotel is in a great location. Most attractions like museums, Navy Pier, and Michigan Ave are a short walk from the hotel, but it is located away from much of the foot and car traffic.

Get the train from the airport into the city - blue line - and get off at Clarke/Lake station. Is only a 15 minute walk to the hotel. Costs $2.25 compared to approx $60 in a cab or $30 on the airport shuttle.

My new favorite hotel in Chicago
D Kent Nov 3, 2009
I was looking for an affordable place for a last minute trip to the city. I had heard good things about Swisshotel, and could ... not agree more. The staff was extremely helpful. The room was clean and modern, and the view was amazing. I did check the pool and fitness center out and will definitely use them the next time. My only suggestion (not a complaint), would be to have a 'to go' cup for the coffeemaker in the room. Swisshotel strives to be green which I appreciate, but I was ready to get my day started. Everything else was fantastic, and it will be the first place I check for my next visit.

Great Hotel

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and it was amazing. The lobby isnt as modern but it has a classic look to it. When we ... checked in they gave us a free upgrade to the king deluxe suite and we had 2 great views of the city and the lake. The beds were very comfy and clean. The hotel staff was very helpful and pleasant. The bathroom had a standing shower and a soaking tub and both were clean and well kept. Nice hotel and nice rooms

The staff was amazing. They are the people that set the tone for the stay as they are first impression you get. We could ... not have been more pleased. They treated not only us but the other staff members with the most respect possible. The rooms were beautiful and clean and there was no noise from the events taking place there. Couldnt have been any better, actually planning another trip back in a few months

Spotless, modern, convenient. Bar and restaurant are expensive, but that's what you get wit thsi real estate.

Solid Hotel
NY Jetsetter Sep 12, 2009
The hotel was great. We loved the room and had an amazing view of the river. Good location and amenities. Only 2 ... drawbacks, first, they did not have any rooms with a king size bed available even though I called ahead to request this. Second, the cash machine fee was over $3 (can't remember if it was $3.50 or $4) which I found to be ridiculous considering I was a guest in their hotel. Other than those minor things, great experience. Would definitely go back. The fruit water in the lobby was a nice touch.

The hotel was super nice. Very modern and chic. However, the hotel staff was noticeably unfriendly. Only a few staff ... members were helpful while the rest remained cold and inhospitable. Was never greeted once by a hotel staff upon entering the hotel. Even the people at the front desk had bland personalities.

Chicago offers many things to do. The hotel was very nice and staff was friendly. A couple of things I did not like was the ... internet service was not easily accessible and instructions were confusing. I also did not like the fact the hotel charges to use the pool and jacuzzi facilities daily.

John Sep 7, 2009
Disappointed to learn there was a $15/ use charge for the pool and fitness center which was not mentioned on Orbitz. We ... picked the hotel because it had a pool. As great as the location is would not stay there again for that reason. Plus, we asked for a single queen bed and were stuck with a room with two double beds which felt very small.

Kax Sep 5, 2009
Our 25th floor room had a fantastic lake view, overlooking the Chicago River and Navy Pier. We were lucky enough to see the ... sun rise over this vista on a clear cloudless morning. We chose the hotel because we stayed there once before and it was a known good quantity, and because it was within easy walking distance to what we came to Chicago for: The Art Institute, Millenium Park, and a couple of great restaurants. My only complaint was that the room's proximity to the elevators made for an annoying rumble whenever they went up or down. I dealt with it by pretending elevated trains were going by and I was just getting a bit of Chicago's ambience. If you're a very light sleeper, make sure your room is far away from the elevators.
