european elegance???????????? this hotel is old , no doubt, but elegant would be NOT it. the furniture is, yes old (elegant? ... not so sure). it's in need to be refurnished. (glass falling out of the courio cabinet, dressers are scuffed up, coffee table looks like it came from a garage sale. all the furnishings need to be refinished or even better, replaced. however, the staff (all the staff) was exceptional!!!!!

Lovetohike Nov 2, 2009
We liked the hotel because it was very reasonably priced and was one block from Miracle Mile. It was near the Red line. ... Attractions like Millenium Park and the Art Institute were easily walkable. The hotel rooms have a full kitchen which is convenient for families. There is a great Indian restaurant - Gaylord's about two blocks away ay 100 East Walton Street. We loved the Shedd Aquarium which has a new Oceanarium with great shows featuring eagles, penguins, beluga whales and sea lions. Our favorite art exhibit was Anish Kapoor's "bean' in Millenium Park.

Parking crazy
Road tripper Nov 1, 2009
Parking overnight is $48. Many nearby are cheaper $35 and $26 so if you are a bargain hunter then you might find a little ... more expensive room nearby that works out cheaper when you factor in parking. I mention this as I stayed an extra night, asked reservations for all extra charges, they didn't mention this and then charged me and the manager wasn't helpful. Otherwise room was ok location was good.

I enjoyed it very much. It was quiet. The people were friendly. The elevators were small and slow. The room was great. ... Sitting room with dining area & table. Full kitchen with all needed for cooking if you chose. separate bed room, very comfortable. The bath was small & a little cramped. I'm a large guy. It was in walking distance for most of what I wanted to do. It was a block from a bus route & cabs were plentiful. The price was great. But, I should have self parked as it would have been half of valet parking.

Great Value In Chicago

My husband and I have stayed at the Seneca several times. It has the look and feel of a small boutique hotel, but with a ... reasonable price. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic just off Magnificent Mile. Seneca is close to all kinds of wonderful restaurants and shopping. Quiet and clean. They have added a complimentary breakfast which was delicious.

the hotel was very nice. The complimentary breakfast was very good and the staff at the restaurant was very good. The hotel ... was very close to everything we wanted to see and do. The only complaint would be that the room we were given had a rather tight bathroom. When you sat on the toilet the toilet paper holder poked you in the ribs. Uncomfortable to say the least. A larger person would not have been able to cope with this. Other than that it was a great place to stay.

I was in town for business. I also spent some time with friends that live in Chicago. Great location in Uptown Chicago. ... The hotel was located across the street from the John Hancock building and Water Tower Plaza. Numerous restaurants and shops within walking distance. VERY quiet room and the hotel is located in a safe area, even at night. The hotel had a full kitchen in the room. They also had two restaurants and one was called the Saloon. The Saloon was great. The steaks are awesome! This is my favorite hotel in Chicago. Location, staff and clean/quiet rooms really sold me. This was my fifth trip to Chicago and I rate this hotel the best so far.

Chicago Getaway
Urban Athletes Oct 19, 2009
Our trip was wonderful and we look forward to going back to Chicago. We would even consider the same hotel, due to such a ... great location, and fair prices. We were somewhat disappointed by the indifference from the front desk staff. This was our first visit to Chicago, and when they were asked for help with locations and or places to visit, we were met with shoulder shrugs, given a tourist guide, and in one instance, told the hotel does not provide such services. (They were asked how we could go about obtaining tickets to a sporting event) It must be noted that the door-men, were wonderful and very friendly. As a whole,we are a very low-maintenance travelling couple, who prefer to keep to ourselves, yet in an unfamiliar city, we would have loved some insight. We definately spent more time than we would have liked, searching for places to eat and visit.
