Perfect location at the top of the Magnificent mile
As locations go, this Wacker Drive hotel couldn't do better, occupying prime riverfront space in the historical Mather Tower off the Magnificent Mile. The landmark River Hotel has kept up with the times, especially when it comes to environmental impact. Its LEED-registered building and Green Power Partner utilizes low-flow showerheads and participates in recycling programs. For what it may lack in luxury and size, the hotel scores on points like casual ambiance, simplicity and value.

Nice Hotel Great Location
A great place for a one night stay in a excellent location in the City. The room was clean and the bed fairly comfortable but it was rather small (as well as the bathroom)and better suited for a short stay. The bathrooms could use hooks and a vent fan to control humidity. Overall it couldn't be beat for the price!

Great River Views
Very small room, was adequate for what we needed but they don't really warn you about how small it really is. Had we planned to spend a lot of time in the room it would have not met our needs. Food room service slow. Good location, although at the opposite end of the shopping on the Magnificent Mile, great bakery just around the corner from hotel. Nice views of river.

River Hotel-Chicago
My boyfriend and I stayed here after a concert at the House of Blues. So the location was very convenient, but we heard sirens most of the night. The rooms are a lot smaller than normal hotel rooms, but it was still a clean and efficient room for a one night stay. I recommend ordering food from Ranalli's; they have Italian and Greek food, with great prices and you get more than what you paid for. I do not recommend eating at the restaurant in the hotel. We had breakfast there and we waited 20 minutes for our food and our waitress never came to check on us. They were not heavily busy and we were not the only ones complaining about the service.

Located a couple blocks away from the House of Blues and is right next to the Chicago Riverwalk-GREAT for pictures! It is also right next to Michigan Ave. for shopping.

tiny rooms but good location
There were so many things within walking distance such as Michigan Ave, Navy Pier, Millennium Park, etc. So overall it's a great location. We didn't spend a ton of time in our hotel so it worked out well because the rooms are extremely small. When they checked in, they overbooked the room we wanted but upgraded us for free. The parking was the most frustrating as the entrance was difficult to find and finding a way to get to your car after hours is a hassle, but we found out we could enter through the Houlihan's restaurant entrance. When you get your parking ticket validated at the front desk, they discount your parking payment for staying at the hotel. The corner bakery is right there which is convenient to grab breakfast on the go. I was also pleased with complimentary water bottles the hotel provided. Overall, I'd recommend this to people who won't be spending a ton of time at the hotel and needing a lot of space.

The famous Giordano's pizza is a very short walk from the hotel, but it most likely won't sit well with your stomach so I'd suggest hitting up Chicago pizza elsewhere.

No Convience
The location to catch a cab in downtown Chicago was great! But the amenities of the hotel were in a inconvience place. [...] When I checked-in I was told my reservation was for one night, when I had actually paid and reserved two nights. This was also fustrating...

semi-happy camper
big enough for two but not for three
Location was ok, easy to get cabs (which are expensive). Only a desk chair to relax, otherwise had to sit on the bed. TV remote did not work. Room was clean and quiet. Tiny closet, no place for luggage.

Within walking distance to shops and restaurants and some attractions. Architectural boat ride was interesting. Long, but not impossible walk to art museum and Navy Pier.

It's good for your budget
Checking in was bad. Only one person working the very small counter. Our room was very nice, but our friend room was not updated. Although the location was good it was hard to find walking, only one floor had a vending machine and ice.

river view hotel review
was there with family. were not on the same floors. would not be put on same floor after it was requested at check-in. all checked in at the same time. on floors 3,6,9,12 and 24. ice machines were in the basement. reservation was suppose to have 1 queen and couch or two twins in room. my room had the queen and ONE chair. there were a total of 11 family members. would not recommend to families that want on the same floor. ok if by yourself but not in groups
