The landmark River Hotel has kept up with the times, especially when it comes to environmental impact. Its LEED-registered building and Green Power Partner utilizes low-flow showerheads and participates in recycling programs. For what it may lack in luxury and size, the hotel scores on points like casual ambiance, simplicity and value.

Perfect location, good hotel
Beautiful art deco decor mixed with modern and a great location make this a great hotel to stay during your trip to Chicago. The hotel is right across from the Trump tower, with the Chicago River separating it, and steps away from Michigan Ave. We would go have breakfast next door at the Corner Bakery every morning and just look around at the wonder that is downtown Chicago. Also, each floor had a bottled water refilling station. The downsides were that the beds and pillows were not that comfortable and the TV was very small. There was no iron or ironing board in the room, but they were located in a closet down the hall. Otherwise, it was a great stay.

Directly across street is the #6 bus that goes to the science/tech museum and the Robie House. You can get off at Robie House and walk 6 blocks to museum or vice versa. Makes a nice day trip.

Nicely Revamped
It had been awhile, just a few years since I had been in the comfort of Club Quarters/River Hotel. Check-in was located closer to the entrance and the staff were extremely accommodating. Being in a riverside room of the Mather Tower without asking was king!

Long Weekend in Chicago
This was my second trip to Chicago and my first with my husband. We were there to have our 'babymoon' since it was the last possible week advisable to travel by air. We wanted to stay downtown so we would have easy access to all the sites. This hotel really delivered! It was in a perfect location right next to the river where we could either hop a water taxi, bus, or regular taxi easily. We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant and it was very good but there was a Corner Bakery right next door if we wanted pastries. Two things really stood out. The hotel offered free laundry service on our floor. There was a washer and dryer recessed in the hallway (tucked out of site but notated with signs) that guests could use. Also, next to the elevator there was this nifty water cooler built into the wall and they provided plastic water bottles at no cost. The staff was very helpful and quick to respond to any question. This is definitely a place we will stay again.

Not bad, if you like it HOT........
Overall stay wasn't too bad. Our only complaint was the heat! The whole lobby/sitting area was just stifling hot and it didn't help that we had to wait out there for over 40 minutes for our room to be available even though it was past check in time. The hotel was very gracious about that though and comped our breakfast the next morning. Rooms were equally as hot and A/C didn't seem to be operating at full capacity. Rooms very nice and amenities galore.....would probably stay again, but hope for better HVAC in the next room! Our only other minor complaint were the beds - hard as a rock!
