beautiful hotel

The hotel staff was acting like they did not wanna be there, might reason being one person at desk on a sold out Saturday check-in. And what hotel charges 12.95 a day for wifi? ? Red roof even gives it free. And the valet service charged 55 a day. And when calling down for the car they asked me to wait 15 min and it would be ready, wrong. I went down it took them 20 more min yet after I walked down to meet them. I've always enjoyed staying on Michigan Ave. I will pick more wiser choices next time with hotels I know better.

Great hotel, couple bummers

We stayed here for the Chicago Marathon. Great location right across the street. Hotel was clean, staff was nice, food was good in the restaurant, etc. When I checked in I was for whatever reason given two free breakfast vouchers for the next morning. Sounds great, but after breakfast was done I got a bill for $30. Turns out the vouchers didn't include coffee or oatmeal (or whatever else two people ordered that wasn't covered). Seemed like a cheap scam. There was a dog in a room near ours barking. Never figured out which room. This was lousy. The night before the marathon I ordered breakfast for the next morning. Next morning it didn't show up - they lost the order. By the time it arrived it was too late. It is nice to have breakfast before a 26 mile run. This was a major bummer. Beautiful room, great location, but a couple fumbles that really made the experience so-so.

Not a kid friendly hotel

Good location and friendly staff, but if you have young kids and use strollers, nothing is easily accessible, it was very difficult to get in/out of the hotel. There is no automatic door at the main entrance so we needed assistance with the strollers. And after the main door, you still need to go up the stairs in order to get to the elevators. So it was exhausting even to think about getting in/out of the hotel. The bathroom is NOT designed for families with young kids. No bathroom door you can close, kids get in easily and you have to be alert all the time. There is no shower door which makes it even harder. So, if you dont have kids, great, if you have kids, think twice.

Great hotel

The hotel was great. Clean, safe, great location--Aveda products. My only complaint is that I wish that these top tier hotels would include free Internet access.

Beautifully decorated, vintage Chicago

The location was great, within walking distance to the Shedd Aquarium, the Art Institute, Millenium Park, the Planetarium and other attractions. Lots of nearby green space and parks. A knowledgeable concierge was able to help with directions and other advice, as well as restaurant recommendations and reservations. A good launching pad for seeing Chicago.

Very nice place to stay

The most important item I look for in a hotel is a clean room. This hotel had a very clean room. The bathroom was very clean and the entire staff was friendly. We were travelling with two other couples and they were able to put us on the same floor. The only thing I could wish for was to have the lake view. I would totally recommend this hotel to anyone I know.

Good!

I recommend this hotel overall! First, the public transportation is very convenient, there's a bus stop right outside of the hotel. Second, the staffs are all very nice and helpful. Third, the park is across from the street and gives good view. Fourth, it is in walking distance to Yolk restaurant, my favorite breakfast place in the world!
