Great value!
Great rates, friendly staff, spacious rooms, and walking distance to to the main entertainment areas. This is a great choice for the budget minded tourist.

location was good for purpose of my visit. clean room plenty of places to eat. a movie theatre nearby and taxi service was close by when i needed it. my only complaint no ESPN on the tv.

Great location
This is the perfect location for a trip to downtown Chicago! Only a block from Michigan Ave and right across the street from Garrett's popcorn! Beds were comfy, room was clean, and the staff at the front desk were awesome! Even getting us into our room before 11 am! The only disappointment I had was that there was not a full length mirror to be found. Be forewarned though that everything in this hotel is a little narrow (hallways especially) but this hotel is worth staying at! Would stay again if we go!

Eat at Fleming's Steak House and Wine Bar. The food is amazing, wait staff is personable and makes GREAT recommendations! Will go again many times over! (Make sure to ask for Sandra or Mike for your waitstaff!)

Close to Magnificent Mile
The Red Roof Downtown Chicago was a good bargain. We were just one block off the Magnificent Mile within walking distance to many shops and the John Hancock Building. The Water Tower information center was also quite close. Travel to other parts of downtown was very easy---just one or two blocks to the bus lines and free trolly service! The rooms are small but very clean; staff was very helpful. The coffee in the lobby was great 24 hours a day! I'd stay again for the bargain!

Good Value for the Price
As a regular business traveller, I found this Hotel to good value when a low budget-price is a consideration for the person paying the bills. Excellent location. 1 of 2 elevators were down (for a week already???)but did not cause a great deal of inconvenience. Room carpet had old wine stains that should be dealt with.

My review of Red Roof Inn Chicago Downtown
hotel personnel were friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable. Room was small. Quite adequate for one person; probably adequate for two people. Carpet was old. I would be happy to stay there again. It's close to fitness center, shopping, restaurants, fancier and much more expensive hotels.

Location, location, location!
The lack of onsite amenities isn't even noticeable since dining, shopping, tourist attractions and mass transit are all within easy walking distance and while the building is older, this hotel is kept clean. The reception desk staff always made time to answer any questions we had (and we had a lot of questions!!!).
