Fantastic location and unbeatable price
This hotel was perfect for me. First thing is its location. I was able to reach any Chicago downtown spots within 5 minutes. Second thing is its price. Actually I stayed at Marriott Hotel which is placed nearby this hotel for 2 days, but I should have chosen this hotel fot those 2 days also. If you are planning to visit Chicago downtown, this hotel is perfectly worth for every dime you pay.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
When I stayed at this hotel, there was no breakfast included. Probably there is still no breakfast plan. If you want a nice hotel breakfast, I recommend you to walk to Marriott Hotel, and they have nice breakfast restaurant on the 2nd floor(budget 12$ -20$).

So-So =(
staff was great - - room was tiny - - couldn't get internet access - - and on top of that, TV was out of commission - - but it was "too late to rectify . . " they did "comp" the parking fee though, so that kinda helped

Seriously, stay someplace else.
We arrived for an overnight trip to Chicago and were really disappointed in the quality of this place. We waited in line for 30 minutes to check in. Then we crowded into the tiny elevator, only one of which seemed to be working. The room was tiny, making it difficult to move around. The beds were lumpy with springs poking us. The box springs had big stains on them that looked like someone had done some kind of hotel-based surgical procedures at some point. The bathroom floor was dirty. The little tear-open packet of shampoo had someone's hair all over it. The pillows smelled, and were clearly mismatched. The air conditioner did not work at all, and was partly rusted through. The walls were thin, and we could hear every word from the cramped hallway outside. Luckily we were there only one night. Consider paying a few extra bucks and get a decent night's sleep.

Quaint
Great location and price, but the staff was uncoordinated and really poorly prepared for the evening's rush. Hotel was small, but just fine for sleeping and getting ready for the day.

It's a dump!
The neighborhood is nice and the Red Roof Inn looked nice from the outside. The lobby was ok but I could tell this was not a good place when I got on the elevator. Tiles were broken off right as you got in. The hallway had dirt in the corners and the room was terrible. Extremely small, with old-looking paneling and the only lights were over the bed, one of which didn't work. There were two beds, a small dresser at the foot of the bed with the TV on it - no other furniture - no desk, table or chair. The restaurant - there was one - down the street. Not recommended!

Shopper
The only good thing about Red Roof Inn was the location. The room was so small we could hardly get around in it. Cleanliness was lacking and only one of the two beds was made up properly. The second bed just had the sheet and cover thrown up on it. We had to ask for towels, wash cloths, paper cups and soap. The carpet was very dirty both in the room and in the public areas. We will definitely not be staying there again.

No hot water
No hot water for showers at night or in the morning. Staff was very friendly when I brought it to their attention, a pass for a free night was offered. The expiration date on the free night however is less than 60 days, and probably won't be helpful.

Good value for location
We weren't in our room very much so the amenities weren't that important to us. The proximity to Michigan Ave shopping and the United Center worked very well for us. Probably the only real problem we had was the temperature in the room was either too hot or too cold.

My review of Red Roof Inn Chicago Downtown
hotel personnel were friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable. Room was small. Quite adequate for one person; probably adequate for two people. Carpet was old. I would be happy to stay there again. It's close to fitness center, shopping, restaurants, fancier and much more expensive hotels.

LOCATION-LOCATION
THE RED ROOF IN CHICAGO, WAS IN A PERFECT LOCATION, AT THE CORNER OF MICHIGAN AVE. & ONTARIO. THE LOCATION WAS PERFECT, NOTHING ELSE WAS. THE ROOMS ARE VERY SMALL, WALLPAPER PEELING OFF THE WLLS, TUB/SHOWER WAS ALL PEELED, AND PLASTER PEELING. IN ADDITION, THE ELEVATOR WAS BROKEN, AND PEOPLE WERE FORCED TO USE THE STAIRS. VERY OLD, AND CREEPY ROOMS. NO RESTAURANT, OR BAR, AND ALL THEY HAD FOR THE MORNING, WAS A MACHINE WHICH DISPENSED COFFE, AND HOT CHOCOLATE IN LITTLE CUPS, WHICH WAS BAD. IT SERVED IT'S PURPOSE I GUESS, BUT VERY DISAPOINTED IN THE CONDITION OF THE ROOM, AND I WOULD BE EMBARRASED.

Red Roof Inn---awful experience
Our room was extremely small )--there were two small beds and a dresser with a tv on it---a cutout hole held a rod for clothes and an ironing board----(that was the closet)---the bathroom was tidied up but the floor was NOT clean......the carpeting was OLD OLD OLD ---dark, dirty and nasty.....the bedspreads were old and very faded ---the door was very thin---not real wood---and the dead bolt was cracked right in two--like someone had kicked in the door and snapped the deadbolt....my daughter and I just didn't feel safe. The manager was upset that we didn't let him rectify the problem with another room--but we just didn't want to stay there--it was a safety issue at that point.
