Boutique luxury in the heart of the Gold Coast
In Chicago, the rule for downtown real estate is the closer to Lake Michigan, the more posh the address. Enter the Raffaello Hotel, a four-star hotel just steps from the lake and Magnificent Mile with a Michelin-rated chef, in-room spa services, executive suites and a 24-hour business center. Blending old-world aesthetics with modern conveniences, the hotel manages luxury and intimacy while being near the downtown hub. Stepping into the vintage building just off the tourist drag, guests are more likely to feel like Gold Coast residents than tourists. Raffaello Hotel offers Drumbar, a rooftop speakeasy-style inside lounge and outdoor garden terrace, found in the 18th floor.
Highlights
- Walk to the Magnificent Mile
- Next to the John Hancock Center
- Boutique hotel with a 24-hour business center and rooftop sundeck
- Upscale Italian fare at Pelago
- Sanctuary fitness center with Precor fitness equipment
Rooms
Staying in this vintage building poses several advantages. The Raffaello Hotel offers rooms with high ceilings and architectural details for a unique, high-class vintage stay. Butterscotch-hued bedding and drapes match the walls, while high ceilings --painted stark white--stun with their beam construction. All rooms feature rainfall showerheads, Gilchrest and Soames amenities, 32-inch LCD TV, iHome and iPod players and 340-count linens. Rooms, which come in king, double double and suite versions are hard-wire and Wi-Fi enabled.
Features
Any Chicagoan will encourage a newcomer to put dining and an architectural experience on the itinerary. At the Raffaello Hotel, both needs are satisfied thanks to Pelago, the upscale Italian seafood restaurant and the rooftop garden, which is open from late spring to late fall. From the sundeck, guests can take in glorious views of the skyline, including Navy Pier and the next door neighbor: the John Hancock Center.

Very nice and spacious rooms.
This hotel had very nice rooms with up-to-date renovations. The living area had doors separating the sleeping area. Don't use the valet - it's twice as much as the "self-park" across the street and the self-park was acutally valet. The self-park was only $23 and literally across the street. Conveniently located around the corner from Michigan Avenue and Lake Shore Drive and John Hancock Observatory. I tried to call ahead for early check-in, but was told that if there were rooms available, I could check-in early. I arrived at noon with regular check-in set at 3 or 4 and was able to get a room right away.

Very Nice!
Stayed at the hotel for the weekend while running in the Chicago marathon. The hotel was nice and served its purpose. Very comfortable room/beds, big bathroom and everything else that you would want minus a bathtub. Definitely recommend this hotel!

Get weekend Get-away!
We were there to attend a wedding about an hour out of the city; it was absolutely perfect that there was a Hertz car rental directly across the street and we were able to pick the car up only minutes before we needed it and was able to drop it off at the airport the next day. It saved us hundreds of dollars in taxi fares and was so convenient and easy. This boutique hotel is great for a weekend get away! We would definitely return on another trip to Chicago.

Nightlife tip:
Short drive from hotel
We took the Odyssey Dinner Cruise out of Navy Pier. (sit own upstairs). It was really a lovely evening and the food was excellent for that type of fare. We really enjoyed the ambiance of seeing the Chicago skyline and it was something I would rec for first or second time Chi visitors.

Great location, quiet streets
The room looked exactly like the photo. The staff was exceptionally pleasant and helpful. My only beef would be that, though we were on the 8th floor, the noise from the street was like we were at ground level with the window open. We could hear nothing from the other rooms inside and only occassionally someone out in the hall. The only saving grace was that the streets were very quiet for a big city like Chicago, especially after about 11pm. Also, the website said there were bathrobes in every room, there were none in ours. But I would still recommend the hotel to friends and family. Fantastic location - across from John Hancock building and a block from Water Tower Place.

A Fine Choice
We had taken the train from Milwaukee, myself, my daughter, and 5 yr. old grand daughter to spend one night and most of our time at Water Tower Place and the American Doll store. The location was ideal and the hotel small and very comfortable. I would definitely book it again.
