Very Pet Friendly

This is a great downtown hotel for people traveling with pets. The staff were really accommodating with our dog. We were able to take our dog in and out for walks without problem. We were able to leave our dog in the room when crated. They even provided dog bed and water and food bowls.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Walk your dog at the Riverwalk north of Wabash & Wacker. You can get there by walking north on Wabash until you see the stairs before crossing the river. Head East towards the lake. There are grass areas by the river.

Great Location, Room and Staff

This hotel was a great experience. The location is great being near the loop, river, and mag mile. There is always someone on staff to hail a cab, they have free wine from 5-6 each day, and the staff was very nice and helpful.

Chicago On The Seen

Centrally located to shopping and entertainment in the Chicago Near North district. Parking is expensive $56/night but City parking is available a few blocks away @ $35. They charge daily @ $50 for incidentals whether you purchased them or not. But I was told they will refund any open balance within a few days after your stay. Service is good and Its very atrractive. Definitely 4 Stars.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Whole Foods has a fantastic cafe; the food is good, healthy, and reasonably priced on North Ave. North and west of the hotel. A short drive. They even have a free parking garage.

Monaco Hotel

We had a business function downtown and needed to stay the night. I looked at the Monaco Hotel online and it looked very interesting. We arrived at the hotel a bit later than we had anticipated and the wine hour had just ended but the people at the front desk offered to get us a glass to take up to our room. That was very nice but the room was really nice. Decorated beautifully and the layout was also very comfortable. Sometimes, rooms in hotels in down town Chicago have to conform to meet the way the building is laid out. That doesn't always make the room accessible as far as the bathroom to sleeping area is concerned. It appeared the hotel designers took that into consideration by adding a large mirror to one wall so that women can apply makeup and the man can shower without stumbling over each other battling for the restroom. Overall, I was quite please with the hotel experience at the Monaco. The staff were exceptionally accommodating and friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who has business in the North Loop area as it is easily accessible as a midpoint between the theater district, Museums, Millennium Park to the South & East and the shopping district, Navy Pier to the North and East. set very close to the Chicago River which is charming anytime of year.

not great

the bed sagged; the check-in clerk told me that I cannot receive InTouch points if I book online on a travel site. My room was on the 4th floor and looked out over an adjacent roof so I could not open the blinds and I was worried about safety. I think I got a bad room because I booked online. The room was strangely shaped and not very clean. I am never returning to this hotel chain.
