Beautiful Hotel, Great Location, Highly Recommend

The Hotel Monaco is a fantastic hotel in a great location. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is very helpful and accommodating. The lobby is modern and functional with great decor and style. My king room was huge and very spacious with high ceilings and nice furniture. The hotel gym is good enough for cardio and some light weight lifting if desired. The restaurant attached, South Water Kitchen, is exceptional and the meals I had there were excellent. I love Kimpton Hotels and this one lives up the standards I've appreciated in other cities. I highly recommend booking this hotel for your business or personal stays. I will look forward to my next trip to Chicago and my stay at the Monaco again.

Nice, boutiquey hotel

We had a very pleasant stay. The staff was attentive, and the hotel was modern and comfortable. And the location, right downtown, was great.

Great Place for Chicago Stay

Wonderful location/stay. Staff was friendly, restaurant was nice, room was spacious and well appointed. There was some confusion with housekeeping which meant the room didn't get cleaned for two of our days, but that was probably due as much to our schedule as anything else. Highly recommend.

Quality Stay

Great room decorated nicely. Staff was pleasant and remembered you everytime you entered the hotel. Location is closer to the loop than the main michigan ave shopping district, but some rooms have a river view because of that. Only problem I encountered was in the business center when my room/account was not recognized when trying to log into the computers.

Weary business traveler

The Kimptons are uniformally wonderful. Staff are real and engaging - When they say they'll be "up in one minute", it's the truth. The room was peacefully laid out with a super comfortable bed.

a pretty good experience

We have stayed at Kimpton properties before and enjoy their quirky, boutique atmospheres. This one was not particularly interesting in terms of decore. It is in a convenient location on N. Wabash St., not far from museums of Grant Park and the Magnificent Mile on the other side of the river, but it is on a rather dark, almost-side street, without much to see. Now the good news is that this street is therefore relatively quiet. We were placed in a second floor room facing that street and were quite pleased at how quiet it was at night. The room was comfortable enough and the staff was very friendly. There is a tiny fitness center on the second floor. Breakfast and other meals are in the restaurant next door, which was quite expensive, but there are a lot of alternative choices within a block or so, including a 7-11 right across the street.

Weekend at kimpton

I was looking forward to a marathon weekend stay at the kimpton. I was disappointed with front desk staff when I had booked two separate reservations ( was unable to add another night to first reservation) and was told I will have to switch rooms the following night ( after the marathon!) because they didn't have the river view available (this river view is more of a construction view- on side of hotel a bit noisey on weekdays if you are seeking a quiet room or are a late sleeper). I changed my second reservation to a Riverview room which was available online- so not sure why I was told it was unavailable. Bathroom wallpaper was in need of repair and bathroom light above shower was out. Good place to stay if you need to be in this area but will seek a more boutique property next time in Chicago.

Great Chicago Adventure

The hotel was very clean and decorated nicely. The concierge was the best part of this hotel. Everyone was very friendly and helpful but she helped us the most. We would pick the event we wanted to see and she would give us several choices for dining. Once we picked our destination she made all the arrangements and reservations. This made our trip very easy and all of her recommendations were outstanding. Would definitely recommend this to others.

One night stay

We checked in to this hotel after sailing across Lake Michigan. We were upgraded from a king bed room to a small suite. Everything was great, the value (for us) was great and it was easy to find. The free coffee was a bonus. Everyone was really nice, the place was very clean. Totally worth the $195.
