Chicago hotel on Magnificent Mile with hip martini bar and restaurant
In 1927, notable architects Rissman & Hirschfield, responsible for many highlights on the Chicago skyline, finished a 14-story, gothic-inspired hotel that is now known as the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel. Newly-redesigned guest rooms with spa-style bathrooms entice guests to stay at this classic gateway to the Magnificent Mile. Historical architecture charms while the prime location of the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel allows for a short walk to business meetings in the Loop, famed Chicago attractions and Michigan Avenue shopping.
Highlights
  • M Bar serves more than 50 martinis and wines, plus light fare with live entertainment
  • On-site restaurant
  • Historic Magnificent Mile hotel with newly-designed rooms
  • Saturday night Dinner Detective Mystery Show (fees apply)

Rooms

After a complete redesign, the 306 guest rooms and suites at the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel show off their new look and enhanced comfort with Sealy pillow-top bedding, Frette linens, down comforters and plush pillows. A quiet, toned down neutral scheme receives a punch of cranberry for style. Slip into the terrycloth robe and slippers, pull the blackout shades and raid the stocked mini-bar or unwind in front of the 40-inch flat-screen TV at the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel. Bathrooms gleam with spa-inspired design and a rain shower. Connect to high-speed wireless Internet at will (fees apply).

Features

Guests start the day at NiX restaurant, a white-tablecloth bistro that serves breakfast and lunch at the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel. After dark, pop into M Bar for a signature martini and live music. Nearly every Saturday night, the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel hosts the Dinner Detective Murder Mystery, a top Chicago murder mystery event and dinner show. The hotel also offers in-room spa treatments, a palatial ballroom with gold domed ceiling and valet parking with in-and-out privileges (fees apply).

comfort and convenient

The hotel offers a quite comfort room for our trip to Chicago. Everything is considerate and enjoyable. The location is about ten minutes' walk to the Michigan Lake and 20 minutes' ride to the United Center. It's a quite good trip that we appreciate.

Pleasant surprise

At the price we found, we were genuinely concerned. But this hotel, while older than some, is staffed by courteous helpful people. It is clean, quiet, and only a block from the Water Tower and more expensive digs. The restaurant is fine, gym is free. WiFi costs (bummer!), but boarding passes print free if that's all you want. Would we stay here again? You bet.

Business/pleasure

Strange shower but came with directions. Bathroom by fitness center locked. Restaurant for breakfast was poor. Waiter did not understand order, had to ask for coffee twice, has to find front desk to pay check.

Super Cosy!

The historic charm of the building has been very well preserved. The room itself was a 'Standard King Size.' I was expecting, given the King size bed, for the room to be a little larger, but it ended up being for the best. It created a really cozy feel. The bedding and the bed itself was absolutely luxurious. We had a view facing a side street--completely blocked by buildings, so nothing to drop your jaw for. Staff was very pleasant, I had a short stay of only 2 nights. I would say the only turnoff would be the extra charge for Wifi in the room itself (lounge is free) and the location. Although it is downtown, it's off of N. Michigan which is truly akin to Madison Avenue. Personally, I live in NY and am not all that interested in being surrounded by commercialism while I'm away. Overall, great place!

V-Day Weekend was a success!

The hotel was a bit hard to find at first but that's possibly because my girlfriend and I aren't from the area. The hotel room was very clean but as many of the reviews said, it was sort of small. Luckily I don't require much room. The bed was very comfortable and the room felt very "homey". The only issue I had was that we ate downstairs at Nix Restaurant and were charged $10 more on our bill once looking at our bank statement than what the original bill (with a 10% discount) entailed. The issue was resolved by hotel staff and they were very eager to help in any way. Great stay, and I would definitely stay again! Until next time, Chicago!

Excellent Location in Chicago

This is a great location for shopping, close to Lincoln Park. and really great for getting around the city. The staff was very friendly and helpful when choosing a dinner location with the concierge. The hotel is a little outdated downstairs, but the rooms have been recently renovated.
