Affinia perfect getaway

The hotel is in the perfect location - on Superior just off of Michigan Ave near Saks and Neimans. We live in the northern suburbs but wanted a weekend getaway and couldn't have found a more perfect hotel. We arrived early and our room way ready. Check-in was quick and easy. the hotel is small so you get a more personalized feel. Our room was clean and had large windows that opened - a plus for Chicago hotels. We went to the roof-top bar that evening - couldn't have been better. Very cozy, the staff very attentive. Breakfast the next am in the hotel restaurant, very good but pricey. Only complaint is the wait for the small elevators.

Great hotel and location.

Easy check-in, cooperative staff. Even though they couldn't find my reservation, I had a copy, and they quickly double-checked and gave me a larger room.

Best Vacation

Our stay at the Affinia was second to none. My wife and I upgraded through [...]to a junior suite and we were not disappointed. A terrific view of the Chicago skyline out our window on the 23rd floor, as well as great personable service from all the staff. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed we have ever slept on and that includes The Vinoy, Don Caesar and The Tradewinds. A very helpful conceirge desk and front desk. The valet staff were extremely knowledgeable about some of the great hole in the wall restaurants that only the locals would know about. The only issue, and it was a small one, was waiting on a bucket of ice, they seemed to be a little slow all four nights we were there. Other than that it was a terrific hotel and will be staying there when we visit Chicago again.

Stay away from Gino's East. The line that wraps around the building is misleading. The pizza tastes terrible and is twice as much as anywhere else in the city. Lou Malnati's and Ghiordono's are much better and half the price.

The perfect hotel experience!

We picked this hotel originally because of the location. We will definitely be back because of the service. They were very accomodating and did everything possible to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We had a fantastic view of the city. Our room was comfortable and roomy. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Nice stay, nice area

I booked this trip for my husbands thirtieth birthday so we could go to Wrigley and US Cellular since we are huge baseball fans. Each was an easy ride on the "El." The Affinia was in a wonderful part of town, just a half block from the Michigan Ave. Walking distance to great places to eat (right next to Ginos East), and the hotel would give you a ticket to get to the front of the line. The staff was very nice and helpful, especially Peter, the concierge. The only negative was that they were a little slow on things we called down for (ie extra blanket) But, other than that, very nice, clean rooms, and wonderful experience.

Luxurious!

Pros: I went to a conference at the RIC and The Affinia was just a few-minute walk from there, as well as being just a few minutes from Magnificent Mile and great eateries! I was in an executive suite which was absolutely beautiful and comfortable. The "C-View" rooftop bar was pretty cool. The staff were very courteous. Cons: The iron in the room was faulty, the internet didn't work (and I wasn't told beforehand), and the incidental fees were much too high - they should consider including a breakfast/include the mini bar or the goodie/snack bar in the price of the hotel room. Overall I'd still stay there again and just cut down on the incidentals by eating out and resisting the hotel room snacks and mini bar! It was a great experience!

Ask the locals! They have the best understanding of the local hideaways and gems. Plus if you are having trouble deciding between two similar destinations they can assist in choosing one over the other depending on what you are looking for.

Great rooftop bar!

We were there for one night, but wish we could have stayed longer to dine at the C-House. We did go up to the C-View rooftop bar and the view was spectacular. Not to mention, the food and drinks were out of the ordinary and very good.
