Occupying the first six floors of Dearborn Plaza, the newly revamped Amalfi Hotel changed its name to the Kinzie Hotel Chicago in February 2014, as a tribute to John Kinzie, one of the city's original settlers. Rounded corner suites mark the high-rise exterior out against the skyline, while the eclectic contemporary art and mismatched colors of the lobby signal a touch of the avant-garde. The hotel's cutting-edge fitness center is open around the clock, every room has an iHome docking station, and in-room dining is provided by local favorite Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse. Ask the concierge to organize an in-room hot-stone massage as an end-of-the-day treat.

Neighborhood
A River North hotel, the Kinzie Hotel Chicago is surrounded by a hip night scene and a wide selection of art galleries in the neighborhood. Visitors can also access The Loop financial hub if they cross south of the Chicago River, and hop on the nearby water taxi for an awe-inspiring and traffic-free way to see the Chicago skyline. Two blocks from the river and just off of Wacker Drive, the Kinzie Hotel is across the street from the Museum of Broadcast Communications, which houses radio and television memorabilia as well as interactive displays.

Wonderful Stay

This is a really fabulous hotel. We especially loved the little couch with a foot stool that could be used as either a chaise for one person or a shared footstool for 2. Nice to have space to relax after a day of sight-seeing that isn't just sitting on your bed. We also took advantage of the evening happy hour. The breakfast looked fine as well but we decided to go out for brunch instead. This hotel is in a great location and the staff was wonderful. Would recommend to anyone!

Excellent

There were a lot of nice details in this hotel. (The size of the towels, the spa water in the lobby, the quality of the toilet paper). There were good restaurants close by and it was a reasonable walk to the things you want to see in Chicago. The staff could not have been more friendly or more helpful. They were all very nice.

Getaway

Provided breakfast was very convenient and separate provision for each floor was a novel idea Similarly the evening appetizers and free drink was a nice touch. No restaurant but plenty eating places within 5 minutes.

super clean, great location, and friendly staff

we loved the location - within walking distance to most downtown attractions. Plenty of restaurants near buy. the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. the breakfast was good, with decent coffee, patries, bagels and fruit. Best thing is that is served at each floor so you can have breakfast in your room. I definitely would stay there again. Great value.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

you can walk to all the major attractions and if go to the Chicago Art Museum, get the membership ticket which is the same price as the regular ticket and you can go back on different days so you don't have to see everything in 1 day. Also, do the architectural boat tour, it's worth it.

Great location, good for business

I had a good stay for a business trip. The location and staff were excellent, although the cool sounding amenities (free drinks at happy hour and free breakfast) were lacking because of location.

The burger on the room service menu comes from across the street- Harry Carry's - and it's amazing!
