Kinzie Hotel (formerly the Amalfi Hotel), Chicago
Location
Occupying the first six floors of Dearborn Plaza, the newly revamped Amalfi Hotel changed its name to the Kinzie Hotel Chicago in February 2014, as a tribute to John Kinzie, one of the city's original settlers. Rounded corner suites mark the high-rise exterior out against the skyline, while the eclectic contemporary art and mismatched colors of the lobby signal a touch of the avant-garde. The hotel's cutting-edge fitness center is open around the clock, every room has an iHome docking station, and in-room dining is provided by local favorite Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse. Ask the concierge to organize an in-room hot-stone massage as an end-of-the-day treat.

Rooms
A River North hotel, the Kinzie Hotel Chicago is surrounded by a hip night scene and a wide selection of art galleries in the neighborhood. Visitors can also access The Loop financial hub if they cross south of the Chicago River, and hop on the nearby water taxi for an awe-inspiring and traffic-free way to see the Chicago skyline. Two blocks from the river and just off of Wacker Drive, the Kinzie Hotel is across the street from the Museum of Broadcast Communications, which houses radio and television memorabilia as well as interactive displays.

great hotel! Recommended! The staffs do things very slow however. We had waited to get our luggages for over 15 mins as when the taxi was also waiting on us.

Great for a weekend in the city

Kinzie Hotel is comfortable, well-maintained, and in a great location downtown. Breakfast selection was better than expected for a freebie. Although we didn't take advantage of the complimentary cocktail hour this time, this is another nice perk. Definitely recommend Kinzie if the price is right.

Great Location

Location was great and very convenient. Being in downtown, it was a bit noisy from the street but that's the trade off for convenience. Also, I can hear the people next room in the bathroom. Overall, good service and comfortable stay. Also. provided pretty good continental breakfast.

Conference convenience

I attended a conference in the River North area. The hotel was 1.5 blocks away, and proved very convenient to that and other key places (e.g., restaurants). The hotel also offered free hors d'oeuvres from 5-8 PM and a continental breakfast every day. The continental breakfast was a bit repetitive and a couple of times poorly stocked, but overall good. Staff members were extremely creative in solving some problems I had, but once could not get my door open to clean my room.
