Occupying the first six floors of Dearborn Plaza, the newly revamped Amalfi Hotel changed its name to the Kinzie Hotel Chicago in February 2014, as a tribute to John Kinzie, one of the city's original settlers. Rounded corner suites mark the high-rise exterior out against the skyline, while the eclectic contemporary art and mismatched colors of the lobby signal a touch of the avant-garde. The hotel's cutting-edge fitness center is open around the clock, every room has an iHome docking station, and in-room dining is provided by local favorite Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse. Ask the concierge to organize an in-room hot-stone massage as an end-of-the-day treat.

Neighborhood
A River North hotel, the Kinzie Hotel Chicago is surrounded by a hip night scene and a wide selection of art galleries in the neighborhood. Visitors can also access The Loop financial hub if they cross south of the Chicago River, and hop on the nearby water taxi for an awe-inspiring and traffic-free way to see the Chicago skyline. Two blocks from the river and just off of Wacker Drive, the Kinzie Hotel is across the street from the Museum of Broadcast Communications, which houses radio and television memorabilia as well as interactive displays.

Great Location

The staff was unbelievably attentive and nice. Tge location, just a few streets away from Michigan Ave, is perfect. You are close enough to enjoy the downtown but far enough away to avoid the congestion. Also, the hotel is in the higher end part of downtown with great access to upscale restaurants and bars as opposed to just tourist trap eateries.

What a Pleasant Surprise!!!!

Hotel Kinzie is certainly not on the well known list of hotels for Chicago, but what a Great surprise, from the moment I entered the hidden little hotel I was greeted by Very Friendly staff, offered anything I needed + free liquor tokens for the nightly free bar on the 6th floor (I was given 10 Tokens!) and checking into my room which was more like a mini suite, very modern, updated and perfectly appointed. I was there for 4 nights for a Chicago convention, all 4 days were equally perfect and better than any Hotel in the high priced district over on Michigan Ave., You will be completely pleased with this hotel an the very low prices. I will definitely be coming back here again on my next Chicago trip.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

The Chicago Museum of Art is a Must!, some of the best works in all subjects are there, Monet, Van Gogh, Midevial works, Oriental, and a very nice cafe and patio for dining at lunch.

Family getaway

The staff was friendly yet professional. The bell boys were super helpful. The hotel was nice, clean, and modern. Having a continental breakfast on each floor was convienent. Nice to not have to crowd in the lobby with everyone else staying in the hotel. The location was perfect for us as we rode in on the train and we were walking everywhere. We will definately consider staying there the next time around.

Enjoyable

I travel often to Chicago and decided to try a new hotel for something different. There were many good things about the Kinzie hotel - staff was very helpful and friendly, rooms are a nice size and mostly comfortable. They had a great complimentary happy hour with full bar and snacks. While I didn't eat their continential breakfast, I enjoyed having fresh coffee right outside my door. My only complaint about the hotel itself is that the beds were not very comfortable, too firm for my taste. Also, depending what you are looking to do in Chicago, it is a bit of a walk to the heart of Michigan Ave. Overall, it was a good hotel experience.

Wonderful Stay

This is a really fabulous hotel. We especially loved the little couch with a foot stool that could be used as either a chaise for one person or a shared footstool for 2. Nice to have space to relax after a day of sight-seeing that isn't just sitting on your bed. We also took advantage of the evening happy hour. The breakfast looked fine as well but we decided to go out for brunch instead. This hotel is in a great location and the staff was wonderful. Would recommend to anyone!

Excellent

There were a lot of nice details in this hotel. (The size of the towels, the spa water in the lobby, the quality of the toilet paper). There were good restaurants close by and it was a reasonable walk to the things you want to see in Chicago. The staff could not have been more friendly or more helpful. They were all very nice.
