Occupying the first six floors of Dearborn Plaza, the newly revamped Amalfi Hotel changed its name to the Kinzie Hotel Chicago in February 2014, as a tribute to John Kinzie, one of the city's original settlers. Rounded corner suites mark the high-rise exterior out against the skyline, while the eclectic contemporary art and mismatched colors of the lobby signal a touch of the avant-garde. The hotel's cutting-edge fitness center is open around the clock, every room has an iHome docking station, and in-room dining is provided by local favorite Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse. Ask the concierge to organize an in-room hot-stone massage as an end-of-the-day treat.

A River North hotel, the Kinzie Hotel Chicago is surrounded by a hip night scene and a wide selection of art galleries in the neighborhood. Two blocks from the river and just off of Wacker Drive, the Kinzie Hotel is across the street from the Museum of Broadcast Communications, which houses radio and television memorabilia as well as interactive displays.

Super modern and super clean

This isn't your ordinary run-of-the-mill hotel. It has a modern decor and they definitely used the limited space very well so the rooms felt bigger than they were. So if you like ultra modern looking with a sophisticated look, then this is the place for you. The closest subway station was about a 5 minute walk away. Plus there is a new NY style pizza shop (one of the best I've ever had) that opened up literally right around the corner.

5 star experience

I chose Kinzie based on all the reviews that I had read and was willing to spend a little more to celebrate my daughter's birthday. The customer service we experienced was the icing on the cake during our stay at this wonderful hotel. Your front line staff were amazing. We asked and they delivered!! We were able to get a room on the sixth floor. It was clean, very quiet and yes the beds were soo comfortable. Having breakfast just down the hall every morning without having to get dressed was something we had never experienced before . All the guests commented every morning what a treat this was. The complimentary evening cocktail hour was so inviting and great way to meet other travelers. The bar staff make up pitchers of different drinks that are actually better than the local bars. Hands down I recommend this place to everyone !! You will not be disappointed. The location is perfect - short walk to both the magnificent mile and the loop so ladies you cover the shopping hand down with this location. Definitely will book Kinzie Hotel on my next trip to Chicago -

Cantina Laredo - recommended by Hotel Staff . Great drinks, guacomole prepared at your table - You cant get fresher than that and the menu was healthy, well prepared and reasonably priced. Make sure you get reservations -contemporary decor- pretty busy place on Friday night.

Great Location!

We stayed at the Kinzie Hotel for a girl's weekend. We were very happy with the hotel. It is in a great location and close to Michigan Avenue and lots of great restaurants. We even walked to Oak Street Beach which is a little further. The hotel has a complimentary Continental breakfast on every floor which is handy and a fun cocktail reception in the evening. The hotel itself is modern and clean. I will plan on staying at the Kinzie again for my next trip to Chicago.

During the warm months, it is great to rent a bike near the Oak Street Beach and ride along the lakefront path! (and sit an have a drink when finished at the Beach!)

Great Hotel!!!

My friend and I recently took a girls' trip to Chicago for the first time and decided to stay at the Kinzie Hotel. Everything was amazing from the second we arrive to checking out. We arrived earlier than the check in time and was expecting to wait but it was ready to go and check in was quick. The hotel was very nice. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was nice, clean, comforatable, and spacious with two queen beds. We enjoyed the view of the city from our window. They offer complimentary breakfast buffet each morning and on every floor so that you can bring back to your room or grab on the go. They also offered complimentary cocktails in the afternoon. I really liked that they have a 24 hour fitness center. The hotel was in a great location and close to everything. Shopping, dining, bars, Millenium Park, museums were all in walking distance so we never felt the need to take the train or bus. Overall, it was a great stay and I can't wait to come back!

In town for Cubs game

Stayed at Kinzie and it was everything you could ask for. 1st the hotel is in a great location. 2nd the entire staff was very friendly. The room was spacious with a very comfy King size bed. The hotel offered free wi-fi, complementary cookies and drinks during happy hour. The bathroom was also good size. A free breakfest was offered on your floor every morning. This is the 4th time i have stayed in a hotel in Chicago and by far the best hotel my gf and i have stayed in. I can only hope the next time we travel to Chicago i can get the same deal we got.

Hip yet friendly

Walking in with a scraggly beard, BO and unwashed hair did not seem to present any problems for the "Experience Designers" (concierge). A free drink for every night stayed and various charcuterie appetizers between 5:30-8:30 pm were a plus. It was beautifully decorated. The room was clean. Bed was comfortable. The old timey map of chicago on the wall of my room was nice too. Can't beat the location. Great restaurants all on the same block, and only a couple blocks away from the famous Michigan Avenue.
