Landmark Chicago hotel with hip urban appeal
Built in 1929, the InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile is a stunning intersection of past and present. Original interiors are steeped in Moorish design, while recent additions are reminiscent of classic urban elegance. Guest rooms vary depending on location in either the main tower or the historic tower. An architectural landmark in the heart of the Magnificent Mile, it's the only hotel whose front doors open to world-famous shopping. A distinguishing feature is the heated, junior Olympic swimming pool that's still true to its original 1920s architecture.
Highlights
- A stylish 1929 architectural landmark
- Home to one of Chicagoās most remarkable indoor swimming pools
- Exclusive, direct access to the Magnificent Mile
- Maid service offered twice daily
Rooms
Guest rooms and suites in the main building of the InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile are contemporary, yet classic. DƩcor is simple yet elegantly refined. Rooms include oversized desks for the discerning business traveler, rich terry-cloth bathrobes, access to high-speed Internet and a complimentary daily newspaper. Rooms and suites located in the historic tower fully express their namesake. Opulent European design in lavish gold and russet hues add to the 1920s look and feel. Captivating lake and city views through windows that open are only part of the magic of the historical tower. Soak in Italian marble baths to complete the experience.Features

Great location for downtown Chicago!
This is a fabulous location for downtown Chicago! We could easily walk to Navy Pier, the theaters on State Street, and of course up and down the Magnificent Mile. It was really fun to be able to walk out the hotel doors and have restaurants, Starbucks, and Walgreens within literally a few steps. The room was clean and nicely decorated. I was a bit disappointed that the built-in couch was designed like an uncomfortable restaurant booth (back at 90 degrees to the seat), and I would have liked a club chair instead. But we just lounged on the bed instead. The pool is fabulous!! It is a real pool! It has a deep end and a shallow end and is about as big as most community pools. No postage stamp-sized pool at this hotel. Also, it is beautifully designed and original to the building from when it was a private club. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting downtown Chicago for location, price, and quality.

Short walk from hotel
Bandera's restaurant is just a few doors down and is DELICIOUS! You almost don't even notice it is there because it is upstairs. Try the Macho Salad and ask for a seat by the windows so you can watch the shoppers on the Mag Mile down at street level and enjoy a beautiful view of Michigan Avenue in the evening. Almost forgot--banana cream pie for dessert is a must!

Good location, good service
Four days of touring, exploring, and dining in the Windy City. Hotel was on the Magnificent Mile and within either easy walking distance or by public transportation to shopping, museums, theater, and dining. Hotel staff was extremely helpful and the concierge desk was well informed.

Great location
I loved the location of the hotel, it's close to everything. I was dissapointed with the small size of the room and pool, specially since the pictures shown do not reflect my experience. It is, however, very quiet, given that it's on busy Michigan Ave. The valet service was great, and the view was great.

Great Location
The stay at the InterContinental Chicago was very pleasant and the location was phenomenal. The amenities at the hotel were wonderful. The fitness room and swimming pool area were awesome. The hotel was within walking distance to many wonderful places to eat, visit and shop. The staff at the hotel were extremely pleasant and willing to help with all of our needs. The hotel was tastifully decorated with the holiday theme. It was simply beautiful. The only drawback about the hotel was the room size. Both the room and bathroom were small.
