You might spend more time staring at the 1920s design of the InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile hotel than you spend checking in at the front desk. When you've finished gawking at the gold leaf murals, the marble columns topped with medieval knights, and the blue tile ceiling of the Spanish Tea Court, don?t forget to squeeze in a wine and chocolate-tasting session at on-site eatery, Eno. There's also a Junior Olympic indoor pool to conquer - complete with original Moorish-style features. Or if you feel like a more subdued afternoon, the sugar honey body polish at the Spa and Health Club awaits.

Neighborhood
The InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile hotel is located directly on the 13-mile stretch of Chicago’s North Michigan Avenue, locally dubbed the 'Magnificent Mile' for its hundreds of shops, boutiques, museums and restaurants, many of which operate around the clock. Within a five-block radius of the hotel, visitors will find the iconic Navy Pier and legendary Shedd Aquarium, while a walk over the Chicago River leads to acres of welcome green space at Millennium Park, with the Art Institute of Chicago inside its vast expanse.
Hints and tips
Restored to its former glory after sixty years of disrepair, the InterContinental Chicago has plenty of stories to tell. Check out features like the original marble lions in the Assyrian-design hall, and the sweeping staircase in the lobby, the handrail of which belonged to the Medinah Athletic Club of 1929.

For the best views in the hotel, request a room in the historic tower.

Beautiful hotel, not traveler friendly

I was very upset with this hotel. I booked our trip months ago, and when we arrived for checkin on Monday afternoon we were sent to another hotel stating that there was a problem at the inter continental and that some of the rooms were messed up and they were full. they gave us $15.00 for a taxi ride over to the Sheraton and back to stay the night and pack up again and come back tomorrow. My room was already paid for at the Inter Continental for 3 nights. My husband and I were very upset. They tried to make it up to us by leaving an apology letter along with 3 apples and some water. Woo Hoo!!!!!

Intercontinental Chicago

Second stay in the last few years. Clean, quiet and very pleasant staff. Great location so don't need car. If you drive park on Rush/Ohio at $37 versus $53.

Too much nickel and dime stuff

We were in Chicago to see our oldest son. I average 68 hotel nights in a year. The hotel is in a great location but I just couldn't get over the nickel & dime stuff. The room service prices were out of control: $22 for a sandwich; they charged me $7.00 for 15 minutes of internet time in the BUSINESS center; movie rentals were an astounding $17.00 for a family movie; the pull out couch was really bad.. the mattress was so flimsy you could feel the sofa frame underneath; they wouldn't credit my priority club with points because I booked through this site; my flight didn't leave until 4:30 PM so I wanted to get a later checkout (1PM instead of noon) but that would cost me $30.00! I know it is Michigan Avenue but after paying for the the hotel, flight and all of the above, there wasn't much left to spend downtown. I have stayed at the Drake Hotel in Chicago before and I can tell you they did not have these ridiculous charges for everything, and the Drake is much classier than the Intercontinental.

Perfect location

The staff of the hotel was very kind. The room was small. they only had 1 chair to seat in so we had to eat in our bed. The location was perfect and they charge a lot of money for drinks inside mini bar.
