Contemporary style, European charm in Chicago
In the Roaring '20s, this boutique Streeterville hotel hosted celebrities and showgirls. While those times have faded, the air of glamour remains at the Inn of Chicago, an Ascend Collection hotel. For proof, just stroll the lobby, where zebra ottomans, fresh-cut orchids and metallic embossed walls create drama and urban appeal. With its central location and focus on value, the Inn of Chicago is a gem for business or leisure travelers seeking convenient access to the Magnificent Mile and its many diversions.Highlights
- Prime Chicago location just east of Magnificent Mile
- Free high-speed wireless Internet access
- Complimentary stay for children under 18
- The 22nd floor Skyline Terrace
Rooms
The rooms and suites at the Inn of Chicago feel more like apartments than hotel rooms, and that’s on purpose. Back in the 1920s, the former Hotel St. Clair offered one-bedroom apartments, and the effects linger today at the Inn of Chicago. Space for entertaining, working and lounging are separate from the sleeping area. Big picture windows with skyline views, photos of Chicago, zebra upholstery and unique layouts lend to a chic city vibe.Features
Great city views might well be the most valuable cache for Chicago hotels and for the Inn of Chicago, this view comes at the Skyline Terrace on the 22nd floor. The Sky Suites also provide lofty views, while a dedicated party space accommodates up to 100 guests for weddings and other social events.Transportation

Weekend in the city
Location and price good. Staff very good. Room barely adequate. Very small. I think in the future I will pay a little more for a more comfortable space.

Business Trip
For needing a place to stay close to my meeting, this hotel was perfect. It was within walking distance to everything I needed. The room was small but kept clean and neat. When I orginally checked in, my first room smelled like smoke and this is a "no smoking" hotel. The front desk moved me immediately without question. My next room was smoke free and met my needs.

This hotel was the perfect place to stay for the club I picked for NYE. The staff handled the New Years Eve crowd very well. The location is a wonderful place.

Perfect for the location and access
Hotel staff was very nice at the desk and even let me check in nearly two hours early. The room and bathroom were small but adequate. They accommodated my initial request for adjoining rooms without asking when I checked in. I would certainly stay there again. Cheaper than surrounding hotels when I was looking.

one day stay , - the place is perfect very close to everything from donuts to nice restaurants, very close all shopping just few blocks away. Rooms are bit crammy , taking the place into consideration a rearrange of lighting etc would be helpful instead of tables, desks n lamps occupying the whole room.. Clean room.

Affordable and decent, though certainly not stellar
The hotel staff was professional, but not overly courteous. The room was basic and acceptable, though the rug was a bit threadbare, both chairs had large stains on the upholstery, all of the fake-wood furniture was nicked up from heavy use, and some of the furniture was strangely askew when I checked in (for example, I had to slide the wardrobe back up against the wall to get to the desk). The cleaning staff had left a little bit of long hair on the tub walls when I checked in, and they didn't sweep or mop the bathroom floor during my 4-night stay. They also forgot to empty one garbage can two days in a row. (I still tipped the cleaning staff $2-3 each day.) The valet parking seemed expensive at $41/night, but maybe that is typical in Chicago. The $9.95/day wireless internet access by AT&T didn't work at all the first night (and the staff warned me it was down at check-in), and it worked very spottily on the second night. After that I just tethered my phone to my computer rather than pay $10 per day for miserably slow, unreliable internet. Overall, however, this hotel was quite serviceable for the price. I don't think I'd cheap out again in the future, though. For $150/night I could have gotten a nicer room in a hotel slightly further away which had free (wired) internet access and cheaper parking.

The little Lavazza cafe near the hotel lobby has fantastic coffee! The iced Americano was much better than anything I've ever had at Starbucks. Their daily quiche was delicious, and it came with a nice little spinach and tomato salad, all for around $5.

Comfortable
I felt right at home at this hotel. The room was clean, bed comfortable and staff were pleasant. Don't forget to check out the observation deck on the 22nd floor - beautiful view of the windy city.

Great stay!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Inn of Chicago. The staff was attentive and friendly, rooms were clean and location was very centralized. Yes, the bathroom IS SMALL but not important to us. Very affordable and would definitely recommend.

Very dissapointed!
Our check in was scheduled for 3pm and we arrived at 4pm. We were told our room was still dirty from the night before and told to wait 15 mins while it was cleaned. After waiting 30 mins in the lobby, we were told we could have a different room that was "traditional" and not yet remodeled rather than the one we had booked. Upon getting to this room, our bed had hair on it and the toilet was dirty. We were told by the Supervisor that we would be contacted and given a discount and we never heard from them. Very dissapointed. Turns out, only the bottom three floors of the hotel hav been renovated and the rest is old, dirty, not matching and smelly.
