Follow the conventioneers to adjacent McCormick Place
If Chicago is a convention town, Hyatt Regency McCormick Place is the unofficial headquarters. Access to McCormick Place doesn't get any more convenient-- guests can walk to social events, conventions or trade shows via a connected covered bridge. Designed for large groups, starting with a board-room glam lobby and enormous meeting rooms and banquet halls, city energy lives at this 800-room hotel bustling with action. Rooms feature sweeping views of the Chicago skyline, including Soldier Field, Willis Tower and Lake Shore Drive.
Highlights
- Direct access to McCormick Place
- Close to Soldier Field, U.S. Cellular Field, the Field Museum and other Chicago landmarks
- City and Lake Michigan views
- Hospitality suites, meeting rooms and banquet space
- Indoor lap pool and fitness center
Rooms
The color scheme -- gold and royal blue -- reflect Hyatt Regency's regal feel, a look captured with shiny satin throw pillows and comfy bolsters. Like the rest of the space, rooms (available in king or double offerings) use dramatic lighting to their advantage, but even without the lights on, the urban sophistication shines through, literally. Draw the curtains to take in gorgeous vistas of the infamous Windy City.
Guests can expect a work desk, iHome and iPod docking station, individual climate control system, Portico bath products, plus hard-wired and Wi-Fi access in every room.
Features
Playing host to hundreds of thousands of visitors every year is no easy feat, but that's precisely the business of Hyatt Regency McCormick Place. While many guests conduct business next door at McCormick Place, there is plenty of meeting and ballroom space onsite to host meetings or throw a wedding or company party. To ensure that work needs are met, a business center is open 24 hours for fax, print, copy and shipping services.
When it's time to unwind, grab a workout in the fitness center, relax in the sauna or swim laps in the indoor pool. Shor, a contemporary seafood and steak restaurant, aims for upscale dining, while Forno, a casual Italian eatery, offers lunch on-the-go.

Not what I expected...
My husband and I booked a reservation at the Hyatt Regency Hotel and from the moment we arrived I was less than impressed. When we arrived there was nobody to help us with our bags, no direction or assistance in the lobby, just the desk clerks standing behind the desk with a blank stare, all dressed in dreary misc black clothing. I reserved a smoking room with a king size bed and that was not available either, only double beds and non smoking....not exactly a romantic setting for our weekend get away. The one thing that was convenient was the location. Our trip was planned around the Usa vs Honduras soccer match at Soldier Field. We were within walking distance from the stadium which was great. The staff, besides the bell hop we were able to track down, was less than helpful. A cup of coffee was 9 dollars and not very good. The hotel had a strange landscape and setting, not very sensible or appealing to the eye. The lake view in the room was nice but not spectacular. Neither Orbitz or the hotel website happened to mention the outrageous parking fees of $27 a day and I didnt dare ask how much it was for valet... The rooms were clean. The beds were uncomfortable and the sheets were scratchy. The rooms were either freezing for scalding hot, no happy medium. Needless to say I would not book another room at this hotel unless it was last resort.

Great location and service for the price
The hotel is close to Museum Park and Chinatown, and convenient to take bus to downtown area, etc. I enjoyed to stay in this hotel, the only thing is that there is no refrigerator in the room.

Very Clean, Very Friendly, Very Curtious
Clean, Curtious, Shuttle to town is great. You need to get up early and regiter at the main desk at 6:30am. I did have 9 people in my group. This was great for us. We were able to use the shuttle service only one of the days due to the size of our group. Register your names early in the morning to get a spot on the shuttle. The city does not allow Hyatt to shuttle customers back to the hotel. If they could that would be awesome, due to the fact that the hotel is about an $11.00 ride to Navy Pier. The cab fares will vary depending on who youget. The #3 bus will drop you off accross the street from the hotel enterance. Either way a great hotel.

1st Chicago Trip
The staff was great, the location was close, but definitely not walking distance to any of the downtown tourist locations, restaurants, etc. They did have a shuttle that took you to the different locations, but they did not pick you up. Also the shuttle left on the hour. The other item to note was the parking expense. For two days parking cost over $70.00. This was not mentioned in the hotel price on Orbitz. Also cab rides are very expensive. A cab ride to and from a restaurant (approximately 10 mile round-trip) was over $20.00.

Wonderful Stay!
My daughter, Sarah and I recently travelled to Chicago for her to audition for America's Got Talent. Not only was it the perfect location to stay as the hotel connected to the audition site, McCormick Place but the service was impeccable. When we went to take our first shower we found that we had no water pressure and called the desk. In less than two minutes we had maintenance in our room for a complete repair. Then we had problems with the internet and once again, after a brief phone call with technical support, we were hand delivered a new connection cord. Also, the staff, especially [...], was wonderful and very helpful during our stay in a city we had never experienced before. And, the pizza at the hotel was great! Not in the greatest part of town and I wouldn't go walking around at night but, realistically there was nothing in walking distance anyway. We will be travelling alot with Sarah's up and coming career and this will be our home away from home every time we are in Chicago. Debbie Rutherford

Nice stay
The hotel was very nice and some of the surrounding area was nice as well. The hotel was clean and very comfortable and I had no problems at all. The staff was nice. I enjoyed my view and the sites of Chicago. I was able to have a room that showed the water and the south side. While I stayed in Chicago I took in some of the sights and went to Navy Pier. Now, there were some things I did not like. I did not like the size of the room because it was sort of small. I know next time to get a bigger room. Housekeeping came late I expected them to come in the morning but they came in the late afternoon. Also, I hated that check-in was at 3 PM and check-out was 12 noon. I wish check-out was at the same time as check-in. Other than that I enjoyed my stay. It was not bad but enjoyable.

All That Glitters Isn't Gold...
Although I was very pleased with the cleanliness and design of the Hyatt McCormick, I was quite displease with the location and lack of restaurant dining options. Upon arrival, the layout and ornate tapestries and rise of the building are stunning. However, once inside the door of this highly recommended hotel, the fun stops there. I found certain members of the hotel check-in staff to be less than knowledgable. The hotel is situated right next to the convention center so there were literally no other dining options within walking distance. I'd probably stay there again, maybe, but only in good weather. We arrived at the Hyatt after blizzard-like conditions blanketed the city.
