Convenient convention hotel in Chicago
When the lights go down in the Windy City, there is no better location to soak in the view than at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. To the north of this downtown hotel lies the Chicago River and to the east sits the unmistakable Navy Pier in all its American glory. Walking the full breadth of the Pier is as universally popular and appealing as shopping on the nearby Magnificent Mile. Given its proximity to these and other top Chicago attractions, it’s no surprise that the Hyatt Regency Chicago remains a popular site for conventions.
Highlights
  • Easy access to the Magnificent Mile and Navy Pier
  • Six restaurants and bars, including Stetson’s Chophouse and BIG Bar
  • Private Regency Club lounge on penthouse level of west tower
  • Fitness center on 24th floor
  • On-site currency exchange
Rooms
With more than 2,000 rooms, the Hyatt Regency Chicago caters to travelers of all types, from the conventioneer to the family of four visiting Chicago for the first time. Warm, earth tones complement contemporary furniture, and beds are comfy, plush and covered in crisp white linens accented by colorful pillows. Standard amenities like flat-screen TVs, video messages and iHome alarm clocks make for a sweeter stay.
Features

Chicago’s appetite for food and drinks is legendary, and this AAA 4-Diamond hotel helps to fuel that reputation. Hyatt Regency Chicago guests feast on prime cuts at Stetson’s Chophouse and Bar which was voted one of the top 10 steakhouses in the city by the Chicago Tribune.

For post-convention happy hour or evening cocktails, pull up a stool at BIG Bar. It boasts the longest free-standing bar on the continent. Come for the drinks and stay for the views.

For the Mini-Vacationer

This was one of the most worthwhile mini (3-day) trips I've ever taken. The Hotel was not in the heart of downtown Chicago (noisy and busy) but close enough that you could walk a couple of minutes to all of the hot attractions. It was right across the street from the river walk...peaceful, quiet, and beautiful sightseeing if you simply want to walk there. All shops, restaurants, and tours are within minutes of the Hotel. The hotel Concierge was extremely helpful with affordable recommendations for activities (hop-on/ hop-off tour, architectural boat tour, restaurants within and nearby the hotel, etc.). I went with a friend, the rooms are impeccable. We are two very busy school-based professionals who just needed time away for a few days. It was well worth-it. We went to the spa within the hotel (Spa Di La Fronza), took a self-guided walking tour (easy to follow), Walked to the Navy Pier (boat tours, live performances-some free, beautiful scenery, family friendly, great shops, fun rides, food), took a Speedboat ride, and ate at wonderful restaurants. Must try GINO's East Pizza for Chicago's own deep dish pizza! You will not regret this trip. If you're not a walker, bring walking shoes. It's helpful to take the round-trip shuttle (non-complimentary, but discounted for 2 or more people) to and from the airport. Great stay, Beautiful architecture, great activities, great Mini-Vaca!

Save the rental car expense -- everything is within walking distance or you can take a cab. You'll save the $50.00 per night parking fee (not seen on any references to the hotel(s) -- not just the Hyatt).

Chicago Birthday

Everything was amazing, rooms were spotless, prime location for the Chicago attractions. The only thing that was really not needed was seeing [...] Bikers in leather bondage and submission clothes or tied up walking around with things in their mouth. It didn't bother us that much we just thought it was funny, but we did see the look of family faces along with their children. It's a family hotel, and that type of Bondage Convention was pretty strange, I felt bad for the family with children we saw. We found out later it was the International Men of Leather weekend. But all in all the whole trip was priceless! [...]
