Great Stay!

The view from our hotel rooms is very nice. The location was very convenient as we can walked from hotel to many tourist attraction/places. However, the free wifi can only be use in certain areas of the hotel. Sometimes when there are more people, we have to sit on the floor instead.

Question about hotel policy

The Hyatt Regency Chicago is a fine hotel with a staff that provides fine service. I did however have a not so great experience when it came to a matter of hotel policy. I booked two rooms for three nights. Unfortunately my boss, in whose name I booked the other room, was unable to make it to Chicago this past weekend. These rooms were non-refundable. I checked in Thursday to my room but did not check in the room my boss had. The next night I tried to check in the room I had booked for my boss because some friends of mine from the suburbs were interested in staying the night. I was told that since my boss didn't check in Thursday that the room reservation was cancelled and they were completely booked. I explained this to the front office manager the next day. He apologized and politely explained that this was a policy that is common throughout the industry. He was able to give me a room on a high floor for Saturday night. From my perspective I pre-paid for six room nights and I should have been able to use those room nights as I saw fit. Those are my rooms for those three nights because I did pay for them. If the Hyatt was completely booked for Fiday night, then the hotel should have done one of two things: either find a room in another hotel for my friends to stay at at the hotel's expense or re-locate the individual(s) who made the last reservation for that night to another hotel. I hope you can sympathize with my logic in this matter. I think you can imagine how mortifying it would be to explain to one's friends that a room you promised them was not available after all.

Third time is NOT the charm!

I have stayed here twice before and it was a nice hotel and good experience. However, from the moment we got there last week, it was one thing after another. It took 30 minutes to check in. Once we got to the room, the key card did not work. I made 2 trips down to the front dest for new cards (waiting in line, again). They didn't work so they finally decided it was a faulty lock. We stood in the hall for over an hour while they tried to fix it.; the staff made no attempt to put us in another room or even apologize! When the housekeeping staff cleaned the room, they didn't replace the shampoos or the coffee. The hotel was very disorganized and it was not a good experience! I will not stay there, again.

Get Away Chicago Architectural Open House

We had a wonderful in Chicago even though it rained both Sat & Sunday. The Hyatt is located in the middle of the Downtown - just on the river below (south) the Miracle Mile and above (north) of the Loop. We came to Chicago particularly to visit as many of the 150 beautiful building open to the public on October 13th & 14th. You can understand why the Hyatt Regency was a great location. We were close (4 blocks) to the subway and able to walk to many spots for lunch & dinner. The Hyatt has a fabulous breakfast with buffet or single order items. What a great way to start the day. Thanks to all the Hyatt staff who helped make this a great stay!.
