The new Hotel Lincoln is a window to the most dynamic part of Chicago's North Side, Lincoln Park. Like the neighborhood, the hotel is historic yet fresh, fun though eccentric, active but relaxed. It's where the energy of urban life meets 1,200 green acres and Lake Michigan. All of which makes the Lincoln that unique place where the rhythms of a great city can be felt, savored and adopted as your own. The Lincoln's 184 rooms are classic Chicago seen through an eclectic, contemporary lens. They're on the preppy side, designed and furnished with modern and vintage details, including original art from local artists. Rooms on the highest floors - 9 through 12 - feature the hotel finest views, especially when facing east toward Lincoln Park and the lake.

It was...okay.

Overall, the hotel is nice but it lacks any sort of remarkable qualities that provide for an abiding impression. The lobby was quite unique, and the attached coffee shop was perfect. The hotel hallways and rooms, however, left much to be desired. As with many things Chicago, it just didn't quite hit the mark. I will say, though, that the customer service experience was superb and they went out of their way to make me feel welcomed. I live in Chicago and wanted to have a short "stay-cation" (I hate that made-up word!), but I'm not sure I got my money's worth (I especially wouldn't have if the room hadn't been discounted 30% through a travel website!). Check it out...but don't expect to be dazzled.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

I lived in Old Town for three years and most of the dining experiences are lackluster and overpriced (not to mention the wretched aged frat boy clientele). Skip the reservations, grab a gigantic slice of pizza at Bacci (on North Ave between Wells and La Salle) and head back to the hotel room. In the morning, grab a great breakfast sandwich and pastry from Twisted Sister Bakery and enjoy alongside the fountain next to the Chicago History Museum.

Great hotel!

Our experience with the hotel was very positive. It is a very hip and quirky establishment, newly renovated, clean, with a great location and helpful staff. We have a junior suite, which was spacious and even had two bathrooms! I have read that people found the rooms small. This room was a nice size. The bed was comfortable and the linens were plentiful and clean. These are my complaints: (1) our toiletries were not replenished, even when we asked; (2) the room was cooled by two small a/c units, and it never was quite cool enough; (3) the comforter was (nicely) wrapped in two sheets rather than being encased in a cover; and (4) parking in the area was difficult and the valet was expensive.

Excellent Stay

We stayed four days and five nights and it was a pleasure from the start. The staff welcomed us and helped with city tours and informed us of how to use public transportation. The location is abut a 15 minute bus ride north of downtown. The neighborhood has plenty of restaurants, a free zoo and is walkable to a nice Lake Michigan beach. Lincoln park is is well kept with many walking paths, benches & open lawn areas. If we were to go back to Chicago we would definitely stay here.

Wells Avenue is behind the hotel and if you walk towards downtown there are some nice pubs and restaurants a few blocks away.

Charming and hip

Hotel Lincoln is in a great location and has a hip vibe. Our room wasn't big, but the decor was great and it was clean. If you have a car, there is some neighborhood/meter parking options, so you don't necessarily have to park in their lot or valet it. Didn't try the restaurants, but they looked fun and popular.
