First time and certainly not the last!
Hi C Nov 9, 2009
This hotel was great. We didn't use it just to sleep in, but to hang out and relax. Very nice staff, great feel. Made my ... first time visit to Chicago that much better cause I had a place to come back to and relax. Nothing's worst than getting a bad night's rest and wanting to go out and venture and are too tired to do everything you would want to do.

Hip, clean, and conveniently located
PJ Oct 23, 2009
Our room looked just like the pictures on the net - elegant wall paper, hip art, very clean. The lobby is funky in a fun way ... and inviting. Our room was actually spacious (I've read complaints about small rooms, that wasn't the case here), and there was a fridge and mini-bar, which was super. This hotel is super close to the blue line train (Clark/Lake stop, 3 minute walk from hotel), and convenience stores (CVS, 7/11, Walgreens) if you don't want room service or mini-bar snacks. It's also right in the center of a bustling theater district, and about .7 miles from both the Magnificent Mile and Millennium Park, and only a half-mile from a strip of Irish pubs on West Division St. in the Near North End. Definitely exceeded expectations. Only complaint is that our key cards kept getting inactivated every 2 days or so, but the front desk fixed immediately.

Unbeatable service for the price
Yale Monkey Oct 22, 2009
I stayed in Allegro for 4 days, while attending a conference in Chicago. The staff was very friendly and service very good. ... Rooms are clean and facilities are excellent. It's few blocks from Millennium park and you may enjoy a walk through the Michigan Lake shore in the morning. The only negative point was the noise from the neighbors room. In the room, there was a door (of course closed) connecting to a other room. You can imagine, that it was possible to hear voices from the other side. Overall, it's very worth for the price.

Good location and price, average service
Mansfield Oct 22, 2009
For the price we got, it is a good value for a hotel in downtown Chicago. However, that is because we booked this hotel very ... early and booked a long vacation package. The location of this hotel is good, right in theater district and is close to CTA train stations, only 40 min train ride to O'Hare airport. The room is reasonable clean. There are two things which make us dislike this hotel. First, the room is too small. There is only one chair in our room. It is perhaps good for one person. But for two, it is not very comfortable. Second, some staff members we encountered (both front desk and housekeeping) were not friendly. However, I have to point out that some were good. The bottomline is that if you can get a good price (comparing with similar hotels), it will be a good choice for people who want to be close to Loop. I will give this hotel 3.5 stars.

Hi went to Chicago to run the marathon. This hotel was close to the start. The room was clean and with great furniture and ... electronics (flat screen TV, radio, etc.), maybe just a bit small. I really enjoyed my stay here. I asked for the recommendation of a restaurant where to get a steak and I get an awesome advice.

We enjoyed the Encore restaurant in the hotel for lunch. The chili was some of the best I've ever had with chunky, soft meat in it. Also, Catch35 was located about 5 blocks away and provided very good seafood. The brunch at 312 restaurant in the hotel was not as enjoyable as lunch in Encore.

Take the train in from the airport to the hotel (the train station is 3 blocks from the hotel). It is only $2.25 per person and takes about 45 minutes, but will save you a ton compared to taking a taxi. Also, the Encore bar downstairs from the hotel does weekday drink specials that are awesome (great margaritas for 5 dollars on Fridays!), so it is totally worth checking out! Also, off Hubbard (about 6 block walk over the river) there were two great bars that were really affordable and unique- (1) Bull and Bear and (2) Theory
