Waiting... Waiting... Waiting..........
This wasn't a traditional hotel which I knew upon making the reservation (and I was hesitant to make the reservation because of that, but the size of the rooms was appealing to me because we have a 4 year old child and we were planning on having guests during our stay). These rooms are really empty furnished apartments that haven't been rented yet. The room (apartment) was great!! Very nicely furnished, a full kitchen, livingroom diningroom table, small bathroom, and bedroom, very secure and a nice view! I tried calling this place to find out where we would go to check-in after I made the reservation online (before we left home)... Nobody answered, called again awhile later still no answer... We figured we would just figure it out when we arrived... When we arrived we had to try to figure out what desk to go to and when we finally found it nobody was there- long story short we waited 45 minutes before the guy came to check us in :( I was very disappointed and upset.... If I could have cancelled our reservation at that point without a penalty I would have and stayed somewhere else. The guy didn't even apologize or offer us anything for having to wait so long- I had to ask and all we got was a slightly later check out time. So, the service upon arriving stunk, the room was great, the pool and gym were really nice but the pool did not appear to be child friendly at all- good for swimming laps... The location was good, but further than expected from Michigan Ave and the Shedd aquarium, parking was $20 in the ramp... I guess I would probably stay again because of the room size but I could also probably find something similar elsewhere...

Great One Night Stay
The hotel room my girlfriend and I stayed in was a very nice little one bedroom suite. The room looked very clean and tidy. The full kitchen was excellent. We cooked our own meal in the room that night and it was nice to save some extra money. The view from our windows were great and it was a great room to stay in. The only problem is there was no free parking that came with the hotel. They had a parking garage adjacent to the building (which was convenient) and the cost was $26. Which by Chicago standards for overnight parking isn't terrible. However complimentary parking would have made it perfect.

Nice Downtown Stay
The Habitat Corporate Suites is really condos that they could not sell, so they end up renting them out. The condo itself was very nice, well maintained, clean, and it had a great view. This place would be great for a couple or even a family to stop by Chicago and stay a while. This is not a good place to stay if one is only staying the night. It's more of like staying in an apartment than staying in a hotel. Big difference on service. The Habitat Suites really just give you a key and security card and that's it. A point of caution is once you get your key from the front desk, one has about a half mile or more walk and two security checkpoints to pass before getting to the elevator. Again, not somewhere you want to stay when you need to keep going in and out. Also, the parking is not included. One must park across the street is a private parking lot and pay a fee of $26 a day for parking.

In Hotel
Do not loose your ticket for parking. Leave your ticket in your car and then pay for your stay when you leave. If you loose your ticket, the parking garage wants $200 for a lost ticket. It is not a pleasurable experience to go through.

Great hotel... or Apartment?
I was attending the SFN conference in Chicago, and this hotel/apartment was great! Although there was no bus that took us to the meeting at McCormick place we were only a block away from the Crown Plaza which did have a bus. In any event the hotel is actually 4 apartment high rises (49 floors!). Pets are allowed in Tower IV which is the same tower that is rented out. Although I didn't have any pets I thought it was nice that they allowed people to have them. Keep in mind that it is an apartment building. So while you will have the amenities of having a kitchen and couch you won't have the continental breakfast or newspaper delivered to your room, but at a savings of 70-80 dollars a night I didn't care. Besides Starbucks was the next block down and there was a Potbelly restaurant near the entrance of the hotel. If you want internet there is a cybercenter that is free. However, you can have it in your room for the entire time for just $25 extra (not by day but by stay). In my case that amounted to $5 a day because I was only there for 5 nights. However, its not your typical wireless! They bring you up your own linksys cable modem! That means no sharing of bandwidth with any internet hogs in the hotel! You get the entire line dedicated just to you! My wireless did act funky one day so I reset the cable modem then reset all of the hotels default parameters so they wouldn't be upset that I had reset it, but after that the wireless worked great. I was never without internet though because they give you a wired line that you could plug into the gateway directly. Another person that I know in the hotel had a problem with theirs and they complained. Someone from the hotel replaced that one in about 5 minutes. It is also only located 3 blocks from the CTA subway system and 1 block from the Metra train system. The metra seems to only go out of Chicago so you might as well stick with the CTA if you plan on going around in Chicago. Oh they give you toothpaste too! It is too bad I can't post the pictures. I had a beautiful view of the Sear's Tower, 4 huge windows on 1 corner. It is just like in the pictures that you can see on the net except roomier. My friend's room was bigger than mine probably because he was with his wife, but hey it was great either way!Negative: Tower IV is a haul from the entrance - about a block's walk. Because it is an apartment they don't come and clean your rooms, but it didn't bother me since they have plenty of extra towels.

Great Place!
This hotel/suite set-up was perfect. It was great to have a kitchen to prepare a meal. Coffee and Tea were left as well as sugar, which was a nice touch. The room(s) was large and clean, good water pressure, and they provided nice service. There was a secure check in and a doorman to assist in getting a cab. The hotel was very accommodating as I needed a late check-out and they were happy to allow it without an extra charge. I would highly recommend this property.

Great location, security a question
Great location near both Metra and Amtrak stations. A little difficult to locate as Habitat Suites is actually located in the Presidential Towers apartment/condo complex. There is no signage as such on the exterior of the building. Access to both the complex and each tower is by badge, however access to the room is by key. At 2 am someone attempted to enter our room using a key and was able to unlock the deadbolt. Luckily the interior security lock prevented them from entering our room. Very disconcerting for 2 female travellers!

it was great, but...
it was great, the only thing I did not like it, and I think it was because the place is a hotel/apartment building, the staff was not familiar with this situation and they were asking about "guess" registration every time we came in. We told them "we did the reservation for four on the room, if you want to stop this situation, just give four keys" of course they did not give us more keys (we received 2 keys) but besides that small thing, everything was great.
