chicago getaway

The Fairmount is a nice hotel, rooms were comfortable and clean. Housecleaning staff was very nice and helpful. The female front desk agent when we checked in was rude and more concerned with ending her shift then helping us.. The concierge was helpful The hotel is to far from the Metra line that goes to the airport, the hotel did not tell me about this when I called for directions , they made it as if it was pretty close.. The hotel is close to millennium park, the Art Institute and a great breakfast place - EGGY

great service

The staff was great. The check in and bellmen were very fast. Getting the car was fast. The parking fee was outrageous at $65 a night.

Very nice

The room was very clean and comfortable with a fully stocked mini bar. The hotel itself is right next to Millennium Park, so the location couldn't be more perfect. The only think I didn't like about the hotel was that there was a surcharge for everything, including the fitness center.

Great Location and Service

On first a rival at the hotel the staff was welcoming and friendly. The room had beautiful views of downtown Chicago. The beds were comfy, clean, and modern. It was a little small for what I am used to, but over all the function was good. The safe was right in the middle of the closet, which was in the way, but I worked around it. The bathroom was a beautiful four piece, with a huge separate tub and shower. The staff did not hesitate to help us with any concerns. And the deal for this deal was pretty insane... Only real comment I had was that I did not see much amenities such as pools and another restarant. But since we were in the middle of everything I didnt mind just sleeping there. Overall great place and highly recommended!!

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Research the restaurants before going to them. And always pick one out that has a good crowd. Good restaurants always attract a crowd.

Not a good choice

Positive: attractive property, location, security staff responded well to late night disturbance in contiguous room. Negatives: room thermostat did not work properly, shower water temperature control did not work properly (water went from warm to nearly scalding and back several times during every shower), dead bolt on door was broken, pole lamp in room did not work, toilet flush handle stuck, weak wireless internet connection, no bureau in room in which to put clothes, in room safe flashed "low battery."

Average

Location is great, but cleanliness was an issue as were the paper thin walls. Staff was more than willing to help! Rooms are stuffy and need some updating. Overall this was just ok.

Perfect location, confortable room

I stayed double bed room, and it was really comfortable. In spite of the vicinity of downtown, the size of the room is enough for two persons.

We like to walk

Our expectations for comfort and location were well met. Easy and attractive walks to Millenium Park and museums, shopping along Michigan Ave., and a terrific breakfast place nearby. Getting to the El/Subway was more of a hike, but we did it to visit a friend in Logan Square. Breakfast buffet was wonderful. Weekend sushi room appeared to have few or no customers, which indicated to my husband and me that fresher, better sushi could be found elsewhere. It was.

Great location

Great location. Walking distance to Millennium Park and Grant Park. It was Taste of Chicago and we love it that we dont have to walk that far. Well designed tastefully decorated. The shower room/bathroom are very clean and spacious.
