a lovely romantic retreat

The Embassy Suite Lakefront was quite comfortable. The suite was heavenly, bright and sunny with a spectacular view of the lake. The complimentary breakfast was a welcome treat and being able to walk or take a short boat trip to the sites was absolutely wonderful.

N&M Trip to Chicago

It was great hotel. Parking cost is almost 50% of the hotel cost. This is the only negative of entire stay. Other than that it was a nice stay.

Good value

The Embassy Suites Chicago - Downtown/Lakefront Pros 1) nice roomy suite for my spouse, 3 year old daughter, and self; 2) free breakfast buffet; 3) pool; 4)great location within easy walking distance to Michigan Ave but far enough so that noise wasn't an issue. Cons 1) room furniture was starting to show some wear; 2) pool area could've been cleaner; 3) the driveway leading to the entrance wasn't well marked; 4) staff could've directed traffic to relieve conjestion caused by taxis and cars parking to check-in or out. All in all though a good value.

Family Friendly

The Embassy Suites Downtown Lakefront Chicago was a comfortable family hotel and I see that a family group or business group coming into Chicago would be right at home in the lobby where they could visit and mingle for awhile. The 2 room suite was nice with teens as they could be up a little later & watch TV or play games. We use the microwave for hot cocoa and popcorn. I felt we were all safe and cozy for the night. The elevator system was a bit of a puzzle coming in the first time...after all what does Sky Lobby mean to a country gal. But I really liked being up off the street level. It felt safer and quieter. Breakfast was great! Suggestion: It would be nice to have a very local map of where the local resturants were and grocery or drug stores. etc. Just to have a 5-6 block feel of the street names and the neighborhood would be nice...something to put in your pocket when hitting the streets for adventure.

Take a local 5-6 block area map in your pocket. The hotel staff pushed us in the right direction to walk for dinner. We did find a nice cafe on the street for dinner, was wonderful.
