Picture-perfect location near Michigan Avenue shopping and restaurants
A visit to Chicago wouldn't be complete without a stroll along the Magnificent Mile, so the properties closest to the grand boulevard earn instant bonus points. For travelers looking to be within steps of Michigan Avenue restaurants, landmarks and shops, it doesn't get more convenient than this classy Chicago hotel. Catering to business travelers and tourists, the property goes beyond the norm to offer special rooms like kids rooms, tech rooms and suites. Big windows capture the impressive skyline, with some framing views of Lake Michigan.
Highlights
- Steps from the Magnificent Mile, Water Tower Place, American Girl and John Hancock Observatory
- Close to Navy Pier
- Family-themed rooms and tech rooms complete with an iMac
- Outdoor rooftop pool open seasonally
Rooms
Guests have a choice of layouts, from standard rooms to suites with lovely views of the cityscape. The hotel goes a step further, though, for families and Mac lovers. Kid-friendly rooms throw a bit of color into the neutral palette, boasting beds covered with rainbow linens, Little Einsteins pillows, giraffe play tubes, beanbag chairs and mini chalkboards. In the Tech Rooms, expect an iMac, color printer and high-speed and Wi-Fi access.
In all rooms, look for the Zebra print upholstered armchair, a signature of the hotel, plus iHome docking stations and high-definition LCD TVs.
Features
Chicago is known for its place in defining American architecture, so it's only natural to expect remarkable design from impressive city hotels like the Avenue Hotel.
Guests can admire Windy City vistas from Skybar, a European-influenced restaurant and lounge open all day. Whether it's the breakfast buffet or cocktails with fellow conventioneers, Skybar lures with its lounge seating, communal table and tilted windows.
Downstairs, visitors mingle with downtown professionals at the Elephant & Castle, a pub dishing up British favorites like bangers and mash, stuffed Yorkshire pudding and beans and mash. Dim lighting and a wood-heavy interior make it the place to linger and sample a global selection of brews.

visit sick family
we arrive at the hotel everything was fine I like the hotel, After my ugly experience at the airport with us missing our flight and the airport giving us another fly like 3hours later and the plane was so small.. I'm sure I did not pay for that kin of plane. coming back to the hotel we got there we ask the valet parking if that was the parking place to the hotel he said yes I said is there any charge for parking there he said are you staying here I said yes till sunday he said there is no charge. And when we wore living we had an envelope in side a letter that said we owe the parking 100.00 doll. so I was not satisfy with fly going to chicago just for a 3 to 4 min. late (you never know about traffic next time we have to live my house 5 hours before) and the parking at the hotel because that valet guy lie, The coming back to arkansas was wonderful.

Are you kidding me?
Loved the location, comfort (bed was awesome), helpful staff. We were within a block of the magnificent mile and that great shopping. The only problem was....no wifi! Really? They wanted $10 a day to access the internet. We had already paid premium price for the room, so were a bit put out paying extra for internet. Soooo, we exited into the attached restaurant where they had free wifi. Still, very inconvenient.

Great hotel, great location
We arrived later than we expected, but the staff was efficient, polite and helpful. Our room was spacious, and the location, close to Northwestern Hospital, was perfect. And, the check-out was quick. We enjoyed our stay and plan to enjoy the hotel again.

Great Location!
This hotel is just a few steps off Michigan Avenue, a half a block from Gino's East (the best pizza!) and about 3 blocks from Water Tower Place. Location was important to us as we did a lot of shopping and enjoyed the park while eating Ghiradelli ice cream! The location is also good if purchasing the Go Chicago card as there are a few trolley stops very close. The hotel rooms were extremely clean and spacious. The beds were comfy. I would recommend leaving the hotel for breakfast or grabbing something from Walgreens a couple of blocks away as the restaurants are overpriced and not great quality. My 13 very much enjoyed the open roof swimming pool and the view was gorgeous up there. Would definitely stay here again!

Entertainment tip:
Long walk from hotel
Head to Navy Pier and take the architecture river cruise. Or do as part of the Go Chicago card and take the trolley. It was a lot of fun and we were able to see a view of Chicago that I have never seen despite numerous visits.

Nice place
The only negative was having to wait for over an hour to get in to our room. With a 5 year old, it was tricky. But to make up for the delay we were upgraded to a suite. The room and the service was impeccable! Would definitely stay there again.
