Urban sophistication in River North
Guests at Courtyard by Marriot in Chicago's River North enjoy an ideal location a few blocks from the Magnificent Mile. Walk to Macy's, Nordstrom, Tiffany & Co. and other well-known stores, or taxi to Navy Pier, Millennium Park and Grant Park. The hotel's appeal exceeds shopping and sightseeing, however. Guests need not stray far for some of the best bars and restaurants in Chicago. The Marriott name promises contemporary rooms, business and fitness centers and daily necessities: coffee at Starbucks and lunch at State Street Bread Company.
Highlights
- Located a few blocks from the Magnificent Mile in River North, a trendy nightlife and dining destination
- Free Wi-Fi in all 335 rooms
- Starbucks and State Street Bread Company onsite

Rooms
The guest rooms and suites at Courtyard by Marriot could pass for downtown Chicago condos with their sleek furnishings, wood headboards and black and white photos of the skyline. Spacious baths and granite vanities further the upscale feel, while an ergonomic chair and wide desk provides comfort for bringing work projects back to the hotel room. Wi-Fi Internet access is complimentary. The hotel also touts larger rooms than the competition.
Features
In addition to free Wi-Fi access in all rooms, guests can also take advantage of a 24-hour business center to print documents or quickly access the Internet free of charge. Once those tasks are satisfied, head to the hotel's onsite Starbucks for a quick coffee, or to State Street Bread Company for breakfast or lunch. The indoor pool and fitness center are open to all guests.

nothing I didn't need with everything I did. Definitely not a luxury hotel, but I had everything I wanted from a hotel. A little noisy at times, but nothing some earplugs couldn't fix.

Friendly staff, awesome location, affordable
Three friends of mine and I were meeting up in Chicago to celebrate New Years. We chose this hotel because the price was very affordable and the location seemed ideal. When we arrived our expectations were exceeded! We were immediately greeted by a very friendly concierge who got right to work on checking us in even though we arrived a few hours before check-in time. She was thorough, professional and very quick! We were given several maps and brochures that were very helpful in navigating our way around our first time in Chicago. The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. Plenty of clubs, bars, and restaurants nearby. We loved staying here!

Red Headed Piano Bar Our last night in the city was a Monday and there didn't seem to be much going on. We asked the front desk if they knew of anything. They suggested a couple places and even called up a local piano bar to see what they had going on. It sounded exactly like what we were looking for. They gave us directions and we were there in no time! Red Headed Piano bar has a small, friendly and fun atmosphere. From the entertainment to the bartender to the bouncer, everyone there made us feel welcome. We had a great time, would love to go back!

Great stay!
This was a great hotel. The room (standard double) was huge with comfy beds, a refrigerator, and a very comfortable chair/ottoman combo. The staff was great as well. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Waitstaff in the hotel restaraunt took a photo of our group and a security guard lent one of our group his personal phone charger for the evening - talk about going above and beyond expectations! I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great hotel, Misleading promotion
The hotel was great! Clean, comfortable. Staff very helpful and welcoming. My only gripe was the "Family Escape" promotion. Kids eat free with a paid adult. The kids menu was extremely limited and disappointing. Breakfast was better then lunch and dinner, but still diappointing. This promotion is why I choose this room over several others, I will be more cautious in the future.

Great Location, OK Stay
The location was great. We walked to restaurants and the bus stop. (We bought the 3-day bus pass.) Went to all of the museums and the Shedd. However, it really would have been nice for housekeeping to replace something as simple as the tea/coffee that was in the room. Once you used it, there was no replacement.

Time-saving tip:
Short drive from hotel
Buy a bus pass. We hit 5 Chicago attractions by purchasing a City Pass, and took the bus there and back to all of them. Bus routes were very easy to navigate.
