The hotel was very busy and not too personal. Things went ok but the rooms are dated and only average in comfort. There was no info on wifi and the internet connection was inactive (again no info). Overall expensive but a good location. The ground floor was immaculate but the rooms a let down.

Great accomodations in Chicago
The Congress is a very clean, older hotel that has GREAT ambiance in a great location. Dont go and pay over $200 a night or more to see Chicago. Stay here and enjoy the city for a more reasonable price

Location, Location, Location
This hotel, while once very elegant and still beautiful, is best because of it's location across from Grant Park and L. Michigan. WOrST thing was the bed design - it had flanges that stuck out from the footboard and I whacked my legs on them too many times - I finally just always pulled the comforter down to soften the blow...but WHAT a location!

Learn public transport system (yes, also do the guided tours). It is easy to get around the parts of the city tourists like! BUT taxis are very reasonable, too.

Very good option
Excellent location for turists, besides only 4 blocks to get La Salle train station to the airport. No wifi in the rooms! :( In general very comfortable, however there is no ventilation in the bathroom!

Congress Plaza Chicago
This was a fine looking Hotel in the perfect location. Desk service was efficient but rather cold and room service average with room cleaners trying to access at 8am. The rooms were very dated and not well laid out, but it is an old place. Cost was high compared to our previous stops throughout US and not good value. The ground level is excellent and original, with some beautiful features. room info was sketchy and wifi not mentioned but it was available at $10 per day. Hard computer connections did not work, but was stated in the literature as available. Maybe this was chargeable also.

Nice Hotel
We very much like the location of the hotel. Standard rooms are not very large, but if you are not concerned about the size of the room, the rate was more than acceptable for the location.

Congress Hotel
Hotel is nice (architecture, stonework, etc.). Pub is good too. My view on the lake side was very nice. However, it costs extra for internet, and there was no complimentary breakfast. Worst of all - if you have a car there were 3 parking options - the cheapest was $35 per day.

Entertainment tip:
Short walk from hotel
From the Congress Hotel. Grant and Millenium parks are a short walk. Navy Pier and several excellent museums (aquarium, Field, Planetarium) are all within 15-20 minute walk (I did it in less than 10, but I jogged a bit).
