nice, except one thing
Mike Nov 28, 2009
I stayed here because it was a couple blocks from the House Of Blues where I saw a concert. Everything about this place was ... excellent, except when I gave them my card for an upgrade to a suite, they froze $60 from my account. In all my years of traveling, I have never had this happen. The manager said every hotel in the world does it. Well never to me I guess. Since I only had $75 to spend, this created a problem. Luckily I called home and had people put money into my account. Looking back, I would've paid for the upgrade with cash I had on hand. What I learned? Pay for everything up front and don't give them your card for anything. I will go back here, as everything else was perfect.

I checked that I didn't like the small room, but for me it was perfect. I can see how others would complain about this, ... though. The free internet was a real selling point for me, and the rate was 1/3 what I would have paid at the hotel for the conference I attended. For a three-block walk, this was a great choice!

had a wonderful one-night stay on a very busy weekend. parking ended up being several blocks away...room was small but the ... 20th floor river view was priceless! location couldn't be better....quick access to Mag Mile...River East...Millenium Park and State Street...Saturday morning elevators were slow and repeatedly arrived full..no room...stairs (down) were the better option. quiet, clean,...i'd stay again!

A fine weekend get-away.
Son of Roadrunner Nov 22, 2009
This was a great choice for our weekend. The building is older, but very well maintained. The rooms are small, but fine for ... our needs. The views, let's just say that from our 35th floor room we looked out upon the Chicago River to the West, the loop skyline, and between buildings to Millenium Park ("The Bean" could be seen). The location is great, Wacker Drive at Michigan Avenue at the south end of the Magnificent Mile. And just a few blocks from the loop. We were very pleased.

Perfectly adequate stay at Club Quarters
Maggi Nov 22, 2009
We stayed at Club Quarters the weekend of the Festival of Lights and the city was extremely crowded. Although there were ... lots of people checking in and out, the service was very quick, polite and efficient. They stored our luggage after checkout and we were able to stay parked at the hotel until 6:00pm at no extra charge. (Parking was $30 a day, not unusual for Chicago). Our rate of $113 a night plus tax was inexpensive and that made up for the parking expense. We were right around the corner from the end of the parade, so we were able to watch the fireworks without having to walk too far. The reason for our trip was a musical at the Oriental Theater, which was only a 10 minute walk away. Our room, although small, offered free wireless internet, we had a view of the river and the bed was comfortable. There were only two smallish pillows. I could have asked for more, I am sure, but didn't bother for just one night. The thing that impressed me the most, that haven't see before at other hotels, was our floor had a water dispenser at the elevator with plastic bottles, where we could obtain fresh cold water at any time. I would stay there again for a theater weekend.

If you are coming for the Festival of Lights and want to see the parade, make sure you secure your spot on Michigan Avenue many hours beforehand. We couldn't get anywhere near a viewing area an hour before.

TV_Professor Nov 16, 2009
This is not my first time staying with Club Quarters. There are two in Chicago, this one is more centrally located. The rooms ... aren't spacious, but for the business traveler or tourist who only needs a home base, this is perfect. Free WiFi, business center, library area etc. They even have free distilled bottled water. You have to try the Corner Bakery for breakfast. Only a few yards away it has killer oatmeal!

While the other location is closer to the Art Institute, it is only a short walk down Michigan ave. This is a must see for anyone who appreciates art. I believe this to have one of the most comprehensive collections outside of the Louvre.

Great location! I recomend for anyone. No pool, which is a drawback, but there is so much to do in the city, you dont spend ... much time in the hotel. Free water bottles in the hallway is very nice!!! They also held our bags while we shopped, which was great! No bath tub, and small rooms were the only things we didnt like. Clean rooms. Staff was very friendly! We had a very nice vew of the river! We were able to upgrade for a very small fee.

Great location, great value
lanpath Nov 1, 2009
Incredible price for the location and very comfortable - the room was small but it was clear when I made the reservation that ... it was intended for only one person - individual climate control worked very well and the bed was very comfortable with light but warm comforter. Nice feature is a fill-your-own chilled purified water station on every floor with bottles provided - could bring your own reusable. Very convenient to take the train up from Midway airport and less than a block from everything Michigan Avenue has to offer. While I did not have time for it, the Riverwalk is just across the street and would make a great evening stroll. On the weekend, the restaurant does not open for breakfast until 8 but if, as I did, you need to be up and out before then, there is a nice place for breakfast almost right next door that opened at 6:30.
Traveler type: Business
If you don't need a car, the Orange Line train from Midway Airport to the Loop has a stop about 2 1/2 blocks away (State-Lake) The fare is is reasonable, the trains run frequently and there is an enclosed walkway at Midway out to the train.

"City Grocery" store (can see it illuminated, north of Club Quarters, next to McDonald's inside Wrigley Building courtyard off Michigan ave. west side) for those that don't like to pay big for breakfast (like me). Buy small cereal/grain/juice/dairy-type items there for an avg. of $5-$6 per person for breakfast and store it in your room at Club Quarters (worked for me). I know some people can't eat small breakfast, but this is just a tip for those that don't want to wander around for breakfast, or get it from the restaurant downstairs.

My wife and I took a weekend trip to Chicago without the kids. Our Saturday went like this: Woke up at CQ on Wacker. Breakfast at Corner Bakery, great place, right next to the hotel. Caught the L to North/Clyburn and walked to KayakChicago for their 3 hour (5 mi.) architecture tour of the city. Big on fun (not very detailed on architecture but well worth it). Then took the L back and a short walk to massages at the Fairmont - MySpa. Then a short nap after back at the hotel. We then walked 8 blocks north on Michigan Ave to Rosebud on Rush for dinner - fantastic but make reservations.
