good for business travelers

This was well located for getting to the Art Institute, which is what I wanted to do. The room was small and a little depressing, though I suspect it'd be perfect for someone on a business trip. The window's small, looks across to a grimy brick building, but if you stand close in next to the window, you can see the light glinting off the Chicago River. ... You can walk down there, take a water taxi to and from the train station (which I did). It's a pretty trip. I heard the elevator and water running whenever anyone turned on a faucet or flushed. ... Not overwhelmingly loud, but I was surprised that the walls weren't more solid. Likely due to it being an old building. Situated across the river from the Wrigley Building, near some cafes. Very close to Millennium Park, which is beautiful. I took a walk along the river which was also very nice. The bed and pillows were the most comfortable I've slept in for my week of travels (4-5 different beds). Excellent. The only reason I wouldn't recommend it to my friends is that I think it's more suited to business people, and most of my friends are artist types who'd enjoy something more, well, artistic.

Weekend in Chicago

Low cost, low frills, great location. They could use king sized beds. These hotels however are great for those folks that want an inexpensive, quick, clean, no fuss hotel in a great location to lay you're head at night and that's about it. I think they're great. But if you're looking for the "hotel" to be a bigger part of the experience, I would choose other more notable (and expensive properties). The CQ on Wacker looks across the river at Trump's new hotel and is steps from the center of Michigan Avenue.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

My wife and I took a weekend trip to Chicago without the kids. Our Saturday went like this: Woke up at CQ on Wacker. Breakfast at Corner Bakery, great place, right next to the hotel. Caught the L to North/Clyburn and walked to KayakChicago for their 3 hour (5 mi.) architecture tour of the city. Big on fun (not very detailed on architecture but well worth it). Then took the L back and a short walk to massages at the Fairmont - MySpa. Then a short nap after back at the hotel. We then walked 8 blocks north on Michigan Ave to Rosebud on Rush for dinner - fantastic but make reservations.

House of Blues Hotel

Excellent location for most attractions on the Mag. Mile and Navy Pier. One blk from the Trump tower. Rooms are a bit small but very comfy. Nice beds with small frig and sink/coffee in room. Parking 1/2 blk away for $22 with voucher from hotel. River Hotel and Club Quarters are the same building. Nice cafe in front on Wacker Ave.

Night away from the kids

Very nice and clean. Comfortable beds and complimentary water bottles to refill. Staff didn't really know what was going on in downtown Chicago, so hard for people in from out of town to know where to go. Found a great place for dinner and relaxed back at the room.

Great location to see it all

We took the South Shore Rail from Michigan and then we 'homebased' from the Club Quarters. Convenient to walk to Millenium Park for the Symphony, to catch the "L" to Victory Gardens, to visit the Art Institute. Rented bikes and rode the lakeshore trail. If you are able to walk and follow maps, you can get to most anything from this hotel. If not, catch a cab.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

Free symphonies in the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millenium Park draws crowds of all generations. During the summer, it is worthwhile to walk to hear this awesome music.
