Chicago Hotel Review

Would not recommend Mon, Apr 11, 2011
Spring break vacation to Chicago, no planned destinations, decided what to do after arrival. The hotel was clean but very small and the rooms were smaller than what was indicated on line.

Clean Room

Would recommend Sun, Apr 10, 2011
The hotel was near the train, so commuting to the loop was a breeze. Room was clean, continental breakfast was plentiful, but cold stuff only. (bagels, muffins, donuts, cereal, oj, apple juice) Staff was nice. Would suggest a room on the far side of the train, if some noise bothers you. Still, a clean room, near the train and parking was $22 per day with in and out service and was less than a half a block away. Near Blue Man Group. Probably will stay here again.

A for Effort

Would recommend Fri, Mar 25, 2011
Charming, old hotel. Can't beat it for proximity to the El, it's right next door. If you're looking for a quiet getaway, City Suites is not for you. The El runs all night with constant announcements. I live near a train, so I hardly noticed after a bit. My queen room was pretty small. Room for my bed, a desk, tv, armoire, and mini-fridge set up. With only luggage for one, it was pretty cramped. I couldn't imagine sharing the room with someone else, but perhaps I just got the tiniest room in the joint. Plus it was hotter than Hades and the window a/c battled the old radiator nightly. The bathroom was clean and looked to be recently renovated. The room is complete with a tray and fridge filled with tempting treats and drinks. The tv also serves as a computer, but I'm sure it cost an arm and a leg, so I didn't try it. Driving to Chicago, I expected to pay a lot for parking. The hotel will give you a pass to park in the garage around the corner. At $22/day, it wasn't a bad deal, especially when compared to parking at Navy Pier for a few hours. Park in front of the hotel to unload, leave your car in the garage, and walk or take the El everywhere. Clarke's is across the street and open 24 hours. Good food, music, and service. Around the corner is Cesar's, home of the killer margarita. Oh yeah, those were delish! And the food wasn't bad either. There's tons of eclectic shops and restaurants in the area.

OK

Would recommend Mon, Mar 21, 2011
Location was very handy, eclectic neighborhood. The people at the front desk and every worker were friendly, smiling and gracious. Take great care when you book however, as the room was nice but so small that you could barely walk around the bed, and could not open the bathroom door fully. Had I known that a suite was only $20.00 more, that would have been my choice.

Dining

Uncommon Ground was superb restaurant with generous portions.

Awesome Hotel

Would recommend Mon, Feb 14, 2011
Wonderful hotel, superb and helpful staff, ideal location convenient to El and restaurants. Very nice room and great lobby area to relax with classical music and refreshments. We stayed here with our kids about 15 years ago and enjoyed a return visit. Convenient parking for additional charge.

Dining

Eatapita a couple blocks away for tasty affordable food with lots of choices.

Very nice hotel. The blemont\sheffield area is noisy at night as there is a lot of partying in the area. So, you need to expect it.

Friendly service, cute room, comfy bed.

Would recommend Thu, Oct 28, 2010
The front desk staff was super friendly, the room was cute and cozy, and the bed was super comfortable. My only issue was the El was right out the window, but it wasn't that bad, will probably stay again next time I am in Chicago.

Perfect hotel for a Cubbie game. Walked to and from game easily. We stopped off at great bars and places to eat along the way before and after the game. N Clark St had it all including all the characters that make it real. Irish Oak is a must for pub lovers!

BEST LOCATION FOR ECONOMY TRAVEL!

Would recommend Sat, Sep 25, 2010
Great for business! Friendly staff... great amenities! Free WiFi which was great!! The fully stocked mini bar and snacks were only $1 each! Other hotels charge as much as $4 for a small bag of peanuts. Great breakfast! Right next to the Belmont train into the city.

Money saver

There are a large number of great inexpensive restaurants in the area. I highly encourage walking around the hotel to look for these little charms.
