If you are willing to make sacrifices, thisi is your place

We did not find anything this cheap for the dates in the Chicago area that can be reached with the metrorail, so we were stuck with this one. It was not a good experience, but seems like beggars can't be choosers. Description: no elevators in the 3-storey extremely crammed buliding. You have a general feeling of discomfort and lack of safety, but we had no problems. The rooms are veryvery small, reasonably clean, but have a special smell. Internet in the rooms is on and off. Final thoughts: if you're on a budget and care more abou being close to the city center than where you sleep this is your place.

Not Satisfied

The room is small, dirty, and smelly, and has no amenities, broken furniture, leaky bathroom, etc.. It does not worth $80 a night (should be about $40). The staff is OK, and the location is good, right in the heart of Chinatown. I would not recommend this place to anyone...

Average hotel but proximity to downtown

You can stay here because of its proximity to Downtown Chicago and metro stations. Rooms are clean but self service and no room service. Staff is cooperative. $80 is bit more for 1 night stay.

Perfect Location in Chinatown

Spending two days in Chinatown, right in the center, is so much better than visiting from afar. The hotel is run by friendly staff, who try to accommodate requests. This was our third stay. Definitely ask for a room at the front part of the building. Only one English language channel on TV. Be prepared to not have a typical hotel stay, but that is part of the adventure!

Lao Beijing. What a huge menu, you will find something great. Mandarin food, not just regular items we are so used to. In Chinatown Square.

Not that great

Just a quick trip away from home for the weekend. The room was very tiny and the staff were not the friendliest. I remember thinking I would never come here again...but hey you get what you pay for.

pleasant stay

This is a very basic hotel - no elevator, small rooms, no frills. But the staff was friendly and helfpul and our room was clean, well-maintained, good A/C-heat unit and cable TV. Rooms in back are on alley and there was some noise from next-door restaurant kitchen and 2x/week 5:30 am trash pickup. But the hotel itself was quiet. Best part is that it's one block from Red Line train stop and a $10/day supervised parking lot. Also fun to be right in Chinatown - great food everywhere. One comment said the hotel accepts cash only but they take all major credit cards. Would stay here again.

Things to know before you go

The Chinatown hotel has a good location. As a Chicago native, I can say it is close to public transportation lines that take you easily to downtown Chicago. However, parking is metered and on the street. If you arrive during peak times (dinner, middle of the day)it may be difficult to find parking. In the hotel, the lobby was clean and the staff seemed willing to help, though some at the front desk spoke with heavy accents. The hotel has no elevator. We were on the fourth floor. The room had an air conditioning unit and a heater. The duct work was in the room but this seemed not work. The television got only channels with broadcasts in Chinese. There was no lamp, iron, alarm clock or wash cloths and one of the bath towels had hair on it. I traveled with my husband and we had a room with 2 twin beds. My husband's feet hung over the edge (he is 6'). Though extremely affordable for Chicago, I would absolutely never stay here again.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

This area is popular among natives and tourists for very good, authentic chinese food. There are many restauraunts and the air can smell of this cuisine.
