The rooms are bad

Would not recommend Sat, Sep 12, 2015
However the staff is excellent. They put me across the street at the La Quinta which is a brand new hotel, and I loved it. Lots of attractions so close and just a 10 min bus ride to downtown

Convenient location but no tv or internet for 48 hrs out of our 72hr stay. Hotel did reimburse us but still. Overall, we would stay there again.

Nice Location

Would recommend Sat, Sep 5, 2015
The location was great, the view of Lake Michigan was amazing, and walking distance to the bus stop. The smaller Lake Shore Hotel was kind of the forgotten step child in the shadow of the newer La Quinta Inn in front. The AC unit just didn't work well so it was pretty muggy and stuffy in our room. The remodeling construction wasn't too much of an issue except for the man scraping paint off the window at 7:00AM. All in all we mainly used the room as a place to sleep and shower as we were pretty busy during our trip, so it served us fine for that. Thanks.

Awful facility!

Would not recommend Fri, Sep 4, 2015
I called when I was at the airport since I arrived early, to see if my room was available. The woman that answered said yes and so when I arrived, they checked me in and the room was nice and moderately comfortable. Then someone called the room from the front desk and said that I needed to leave that my reservation was at the building at the back of theirs. SO I went to the building at the back, which is a horrid mess! The room smelled, safety was questionable due to the motel layout and the staff had terrible customer service skills! I immediately returned to the hotel I had originally checked into and was told that if i wanted to keep the room, it would cost me $50 more for the night. I took it! Seems to be a scam of some sort if another location answers your call and then you're told that's not where your reservation is.

Good stay!

Would recommend Sun, Aug 2, 2015
This hotel is located right along the beach and about 15 minutes away from the main city area. It has free parking which is awesome because parking is very hard to find in the city. However, we would have to pay a lot for parking when we went to the city. On our last day of trip, we managed to find free parking at a Target and just walked to our location. I wish we had known that before instead of wasting money on parking. Coming back to the hotel, it is a brand new buidling so everything is very clean. It has a very contemporary feel to it, which very different and nice. They are actually two hotels that are apparently owned by the same owner: La Quinta and Lakeshore. We were orignally booked at Lakeshore but they gave us a room in La Quinta. It is the newer location seemed like. But overall, I really recommend it. It's a good deal.

Wait for renovation

Would not recommend Wed, Jul 22, 2015
Location was good, out of the Chicago traffic , shuttle, taxi, bus to destination, staff was friendly and helpful, this is hooked to Laquinta , but actually is lakeshore hotel, Laquinta looked much better, but we got lakeshore, it is under renovation , which desperately needs , the rooms were in need of repair , carpet dirty , only warm water for shower, bed and pillows not comfortable, ...there was a nice cafe next door for breakfast ..maybe reconsider when there all done ...

Good trip not good stay

Would not recommend Sat, Jul 18, 2015
Me and my son took a 3 day two night trip to chicago and stayed at the chiago lake shore hotel. The hotel was under construction and witch I understand they are trying to make it better but they were banging outside of our door at 7 am. Our first night we went into room and turned on air conditioning and left when we came back our room and bed was covered in little foam pecies. Also there was sposed to be a pool that was closed. We went to museum of science and industry there was sposed to be a shuttle to take us there and we showe'd up 15 min early and sat there for 45 before they told us it had already left. Mind you they were sposed to anouce when they were leaving and never did. So we ended up driving and paying 22 dollars to park there. The doors barely closed and the outside door to room did not close. I would never stay at this hotel again and would advise no one else do the same. I work in the people business and am never one to complain this is actually the first review I've every wrote that was negative but this place is really bad. Stay away!

Thank Goodness for Meghan

Would not recommend Sun, Jul 12, 2015
It's under construction....that should say it all....no sleeping in, bang, bang and more bangs, bumps, feet stomping, construction workers hollering, hammers hammering.....it was a mess.....some of the staff were borderline rude, but Meghan was a doll....she helped at every rough spot.....I don't know where she was Thursday (I guess she gets a day off :)), but the empathy lacking, a tad entitled staff was a little much to take. I had a problem with the remote, so I bought the extra remote back and explained that housekeeping had come into my room with the do not disturb sign on the door (which was very small, although the next room had a large sign). This staff person wanted to know who I had talked to previously, and I described Meghan, and she acknowledged her with a disdainful snort of sorts. Not good, they could learn a lot from Meghan. one of them told me that she was studying nursing hope she eventually gives her patients better care than she does hotel guests.
