Great Place to Stay

I really enjoyed staying at this hostel. Traveling solo in a big city can be pretty scary. However staying at this hostel made things much easier. The location is great within walking distance of a few bars, convenience stores, and other eateries. The L station is only a few blocks away a short 5 minute walk. The rooms were clean as well as the common areas and the bathrooms. The staff was amazing. Always willing to help out with locating different tourist spots as well as answer any other questions I had (no matter how annoying they were). My one and only complaint was that the bed I slept on was pretty bad. I could have used another pillow and would have been better off sleeping on my side instead of my back like i'm used to. But overall this was a great place to stay at.

Frickin' loud guests but good location

I was in town on business and this was in a great location--literally only a few minutes from the red line (which runs nearly 24/7) and awesome venues, bars and food within walking distance. I wasn't ever there long enough to attend the hostel events but a lot of college kids there seemed to like it for that, if you're into that kind of thing. The showers were YMCA style, where you put all your stuff across the room in an open area and shower on the other side. Also, the open kitchen was nice. My biggest complaint are the lighting (not enough of it; it's freaking dark everywhere) and the bed I was assigned which had messed up springs which gave me back aches.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

Close to a lot of awesome bars, food and the red line. Buy some groceries if you think you might stay in ever so you can cook something. There's no food readily available there save for the complimentary breakfast.

Excelent Location, many amneties

I was very surprised to find such a clean house for that price you normally get a dirty room in a bad neighborhood. Even Wi-Fi was available for free and breakfast also included. The area surrounding was safe, even at night.

Best. Hostel. Ever.

Initially I chose a place to stay in Chicago based on availability and proximity to the venue where the indie gig I wanted to attend took place. And I wasn't wrong. The check-in process was nice and easy, you don't have to pay for any extras, as in many other hostels (and you can still buy a padlock for the lockers). I stayed in for 2 nights in 2 different rooms (a roem on the 1st floor dorm and en-suite dorm in the basement), and they both were spacious and clean. The hostel just went though renovation, and the spacious lobby also look very sharp. They have free computers and netbooks to use, and even free printers! The breakfast was great too: a selection of fruits, bagels and cereals. I was concerned about the fact that they allow alcohol in the hostel, but everyone was quite and polite and this policy caused absolutely no problems. The area of Lincoln Park is hip and doesn't det empty at night like downtown, so it's probably the best area to stay if you want to see some real Chicago. Unfortunately, my visit was short and I couldn't experience any social activities organized by the hostel, but I would definitely recommend it to anyone!

Lincoln Hall - check out this probably cleanest venue in the world of rock with clear sound and surprisingly cool opening bands! And bring an ID.

Nice place

I arrived in the afternoon a little after 3:00 pm and there were 2 guests before me at the reception checking in. The receptionist was fast and polite. With in few minutes I received my key with instructions. I also received a pamphlet with Chicago City attractions and a map. That was very helpful! I found the place very cozy especially when considering the price. The room was clean and quiet until two of the guests in my room started to snore loud. Well, it is a shared room so you should expect things like these. But overall a really nice place for the price. Oh, Did I mention that there is breakfast?
