Anniversary Weekend Getaway
The hotel was in a great location on Michigan Ave., close to museums and restaraunts. The staff was friendly and accomodating. The interior and exterior of the hotel was a little dated and the hotel itself did not have many amenities to offer. However, for the price I would still consider this hotel a good deal.

OK
Main problem was that Orbitz did not actually make the reservation (they had no difficulties charging my credit card, however), so on arriving I had to spend the better part of an hour on the phone with them while trying to keep kids amused. Finally got it all straightened out. Thanks, Orbitz. Grrrrr. Hotel is not bad - we were in town to attend a soccer match at Soldier Field, so the location was perfect for this. Otherwise the staff is pretty friendly but nothing special about the hotel itself. It seems older and a little frayed around the edges but the staff does a good job keeping it in shape.

good cheap park area hotel almost dwntwn
We went with the plan to walk all over chicago and do whatever we came across as we took the amtrak into town. I think this is a great location to do just that starting from the south side. You are within walking distance (2miles)radius of the most significant parks, museums, shopping (state, michigan, and oak), union station, and then navy pier. The hotel was the cheapest with the best location of any hotel I found in the two weeks I researched for the trip. The next closest one was the chinatown hotel, but it looked kind of shady FYI. Everything at the hotel was as expected, they will hold your bags for you until you can check in. They let us check in about 30 minutes early (they said the hotel was full so we couldn't get in earlier). The AC worked. The room was small, but what do you need a big hotel room for? You should only use it for sleeping anyway. why would you go to a tourist destination to hang out in your room. geeze. The view from the room was pretty good. it's only 9 stories tall though so don't expect to see indiana. The Yolk restaurant next door was great. you should probably go early or drop by to put your name in 25 minutes before you want to eat since it seemed like there is always a wait (because it's that good). The staff always said hello and the front desk guy did very well under the pressure i saw him working under. I would stay here again, considering the hotel next to it is twice the price. The first day we did on foot, the second day we did from the double decker bus tour. Which at first I thought would be a ripoff but it turns out it is really a good deal since you can hop on and off all day and go places you can't walk to that would cost 20+ in a taxi.

Friendly staff, easily accessible
The hotel staff and front desk people were indeed very friendly and helpful. The hotel was a short walk from the subway and the elevated trains, which was a plus for me. The immediate area is not overly lively, in my opinion, but public transit can get you to lively areas very easily. I used the valet parking service offered by the hotel. I parked my car for two nights and didn't need to worry about it or use it at all.

The title is true.
The employees were friendly & helpful. The location is perfect for tourists, close to museums, & the beautiful Lake Michigan. We stayed at this hotel twice before, & it has improved greatly. The only thing missing in the room is a mirror on the dresser. It was difficult to share one mirror, when the only one is in the bathroom. Other than that, we will look forward to our next visit. We wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Unpleasant surprise
I went for a Conference at the Mcormick Center. Hotel location is very good, close to the Millenium Park and with easy access to the subway. Close to the Art museum, aquarium, field museum, navy pier. Bathrooms are clean and place is quiet although in Michigan Ave. However, I had a very unpleasant surprise to be informed that the room I had requested with 2 double beds was not available when I got there, and they oferred me a room with 1 king size bed only. Had I been with my wife it would be OK, but I was traveling with a friend and it put us in a very uncomfortable situation (one of us slept on the floor for 2 nights until they could make another room available). The explanation that was given was that when you book your room through Orbitz there is no guarantee you are gonna get what you asked for since you are paying for cheaper rates. I was outraged since there is no such information in Orbitz website. Be aware!!!
