Great experience
This hotel is a gem just north of the city. The room was top notch in comfort and cleanliness - decor was pleasing. For those needing a hotel north of the city that has a neighborhood feel and beautiful accomodations, this is the place to stay. Staff are very attentive and pleasant. Parking is right next door in a garage with very reasonable rates. Lots of neighborhood restaurants within an easy walk. Will definitely return in the future.

Terrible Staff
The hotel is very nice with a great location. The staff was rude at every turn . . . just mean from checkin to checkout.

Decent hotel, good location
The room was nice, clean, and had amenities I didn't know about before arriving. There was a Keurig coffeemaker, a really large TV, and the windows actually open! Typical "hotel art" adorned the walls, but we had really nice shutters, a great bathroom with loads of towels, a fridge and big king size bed. We called at the last minute to request a crib and the hotel had no problem fulfilling the request. Unfortunately, it was a janky old wooden crib that my daughter would have destroyed in minutes. The continental breakfast was okay; there were lots of options, but we chose to try Ann Sather across the street where we had their famous cinnamon rolls and cheddar bacon potato pancakes. There were tons of things to do within walking distance, although it isn't super close to the el, but there are lots of buses nearby. Staff was okay- each person was definitely different than the last. The woman who checked us in gave us room key, then announced our room number, which I find to be a big no-no. My husband used the workout room and seemed to enjoy the features it had. Parking in the garage next door was convenient and, despite not wanting to use our car during our stay, we did need it once and had in and out priveliges with a slightly discounted rate ($3 cheaper than the garage normally charges). Would I stay here again? I'm not sure. It was a little pricey for a young family on a budget. Would I recommend it to others? Definitely!

There aren't really any "attractions" in the Boystown in the dead of winter. Traveling with a toddler, we had a really difficult time keeping her entertained. If it had been nicer out we could have walked to the lake. Otherwise, you are in for a haul to find kid-friendly activities. We knew this going in to it as I was in town for a job interview, but others might not be aware.

Best Western Hawthorne
Gym was small but perfect. The jacuzzi tub was so relaxing. The staff was always there. I do no think the location could have been any better. I do not think there is a more comfortable bed out there. The two flat screen tvs were a surprise. The bathroom mirror was even great.

Great location, friendly staff, clean rooms. Some guests were very noisy in hallways very, very late at night but that is not the hotel's fault.

Not for the social conservative
We went the the Cubs game and in that respect this hotel is in a good location. Jazz and blues club we wanted to go to were not available in the neighborhood. The breakfast was below average both in freshness and selection.

Location, location, location....
The location was perfect. We walked the neighborhoods and rode the train. Compared to other neighborhood hotels, this one is need of a bedding update and you had to manually enter the channel on the tv remote, which was quite inconvenient.

My review of Best Western Hawthorne Terrace Hotel
This is an excellent hotel..the staff goes out of its way to please you..I was here during the Olympic games and don't know if this is normal treatment but I felt well taken care of..the rooms were not overly big but were very clean and had all the necessary ammenities..wireless Internet access was available for a nominal charge which provided my son and I to be able to use our lap tops simultaneously while in the room...It is in very easy access of all the major attractions such as the Forbidden City and Tianamen Square, and very close by to the subway...

Great for a trip to Wrigley
We picked this hotel because of it's combination of reasonable price and proximity to Wrigley Field (about 5-6 blocks). We flew into O'Hare and took the CTA subway to within walking distance to the hotel. Check-in was smooth and the staff friendly. Room was clean, comfortable, and the AC worked great - key for an August trip to Chicago. There was complementary bottled water - a nice touch and a decent free continental breakfast. The shaded area in front of the hotel is very well landscaped and has tables to sit and take your breakfast. There is a small gym with a Nautilus-style weight machine. Also there is a bike, stair-stepper, and treadmill along with a sauna and whirlpool. Hotel is also fairly close to Lake Michigan and I went jogging on the trail along the lake after just a short walk to get there. In summary, the hotel was clean and fairly priced. The staff was courteous. I'll go there again on my next trip to Chicago.

Short walk from hotel
About a 1/4 mile to the west, you can pick up the Red line which connects to the Blue at Jackson to get you to and from the airport - all for just 2 dollars. Also, the subway is a great way to get you into the Loop area etc for your sight-seeing
